A new email just received:

Please join DFA, and join me, in this fight.

You were there with me at the beginning, when I started running for Congress.

You were my first volunteers.

My first supporters.

And you've stayed with me. Together, we've fought for healthcare reform. We've fought for the public option.

And our work isn't done. On Sunday, I read that the health insurers are trying to avoid covering children with preexisting conditions. Leukemia. Asthma. Diabetes.

These companies have decided that if it costs too much to keep a child breathing, then this child will die. They will deploy their lawyers and their accountants, to make sure that this child dies. And if this child stops breathing because his health insurance company does not pay for care, this is called profit.

And so, our work isn't done.

Democracy for America members are fighting for my bill, the Medicare You Can Buy Into Act, to make sure that sick children have a place to go. To make sure that all of us have a place to go.

DFA will be fighting for this bill, as all of us fought for the public option. DFA will continue to fight, as long as profit means that children die.

Please join DFA, and join me, in this fight.

Please contribute to Democracy for America -- whatever you can give, $5, $50, or $5000

It's up to us.
I was that child, and I nearly died. I remember the fear, the gripping fear, of suffocation. But I had healthcare, and so I lived.

Please help others live. Please give to those who fight, for all of us.

As Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

You and I are in that small group. You were there at the beginning. You are here now, fighting for life. And millions will owe their lives to your compassion, and strength.

Courage,

-Alan

Congressman Alan Grayson, FL-08
Florida DFA Member

P.S. From Jim Dean, Chair of DFA:

Congressman Grayson also shot a short video thanking you and all DFA members for our hard work fighting together.
