Who you calling fool?

Republican Senator Richard Burr is "acting a fool" in North Carolina.

On the 23rd, he was ready to focus his reelection campaign on repeal of the health care bill. Here was his statement:

Despite being marketed as a health care reform bill, this legislation amounts to nothing more than a massive expansion of the federal government. It fails to deliver on the promise to lower health care costs, and will instead actually increase costs for many Americans. It also imposes new taxes, fees, and penalties, which will fall on the backs of hard-working Americans who are already struggling in this difficult economy. The American people spoke, but unfortunately, Washington didn’t listen. The only winner in this deal is the federal government.

Today he backed down: http://pulse.ncpolicywatch.org/2010/03/31/burr-a-series-of-fixes-maybe-not-repeal/
"A series of fixes…maybe not repeal"

Well his soon to be opponent, Cal Cunningham, and his campaign smacked him for the nonsense:

After promising to stake his campaign on repealing
the health care reform bill, Senator Burr is now changing his story.
Cal Cunningham for Senate Communications Director Angela Guyadeen
released the following statement in response:

"Days before Senator Burr held up an Armed Services hearing in protest
of the passage of the health care reform bill, he claimed he was going
to stake his reelection campaign on repealing the bill. Today, Burr
is backtracking on his earlier statements. While Burr continues to
play silly political games, North Carolinians need to know where he
stands. Either Burr is flip-flopping on this issue or it must already
be April Fools' Day in Washington."

1. I love Wes Clark
and hope Cunningham unseats Burr. I don't know what the polls look like there but the Republicans keep digging themselves into big holes - hopefully to big to extricate themselves from in November.

It's the end of the quarter, help Iraq War Veteran Cal Cunningham send Richard "Bank Run" Burr back home:

Richard Burr is the "post turtle" of the U.S. Senate. You drive by and see him sitting there, you don't know how he got up there, he doesn't belong there, and he sure isn't doing anything there. And you can't help but want to help him back down where he belongs.
