10. I was impressed with Rep. Taylor when I watched him in the House hearings a few years ago.
One of the topics the hearings covered is why the administration claimed (in the run-up to the Iraq invasion) that Iraq had WMDs. Rep. Taylor said that he had voted for the Iraq War Resolution because had been told, and he had believed, that Iraq had WMDs. Rep. Taylor impressed me as having sound judgment, and I would like to hear his reason for not supporting an override of yesterday's veto.

14. I tell ya
one day I love Gene the next day I hate him, but I, as you, will accept any rational explanation which I'm sure he will give. He's a little banty rooster supporter of the people. He crossed swords with the insurance companies over Katrina claims, hates bush with a passion and I honestly believe he loves our troops (he's a veteran himself.) I also know the lunatics the gop runs against him every election. He's Jane Fonda compared to that trash.

I think Gene would whup my ass if it came to that. The man baffles me but with that vote he probably just guaranteed himself reelection which is fine with me cause I know of the septic tank where the gop gets his opponents. I got that book you told me about the other day on my to buy list. And I truly appreciate all your sub images.

8. They represent districts that were drawn by Republicans for Republicans
People were shocked when they each won re-election, especially after Dubya came here twice for each of them.

Personally, Jim Marshall irratates me the most. It would be one thing if he just voted and kept his mouth shut, but he constantly trashes the national dems in local papers here. Asshat. And I've told him to his face to keep his mouth shut as a Dem County Chair in his district (my county splits between two - I live in the 7th, he represents the 8th)

And no, not all Georgia Dems are like Zell.

when it comes to how the districts are drawn. Dems cannot get a fair chance here because anytime we do try to redraw the districts according to how people in certain counties vote in national elections, the Repubs run it through the courts and make a big stink about it. Hence, I'm stuck with nothing but Republicans all the time. :puke:

9. Regarding Jim Marshall and John Barrow -
if we were to run anyone else in those districts, we would get our asses handed to us. Those districts were drawn for Republicans and it's a miracle that we actually won them.

32. Really.....
Tell that to the families of the three US servicemen who died today in Iraq. Pelosi and Reid put forth a plan to fund the occupation through '08. When the chimp vetoed it, he ended his own occupation. All Congress needs to do now is not put forth anymore funding for the occupation.

Alternatively, they can put forward a plan that immediately begins to bring home our troops. No more money is needed, what is already in the pipeline can cover an orderly withdrawal of our forces.

It is time for the Iraqi gov't to take charge of its own security. Too many American lives have been spent in this ill-conceived effort.

"Excuse me Ms. Smith....I know you son died in Iraq but it's OK....really....because we have a plan to bring the rest of them home (minus the 1000 or so that die between now and then) by the end of 2008! There is just no other way to do this!!"

Our conversation is over. And I am thankful you do not speak for the entire Democratic Party.

39. And I, For One, Am Glad
that your candidate does not speak for the entire Democratic Party. I suspect he will change his "heart" on his present vote when it no longer matters - just like he did with his vote for the 'Partial-Birth' abortion ban and his other anti-abortion votes.

41. Why should I not say things like that?
AnOhioan references the troops dying in Iraq in his first line; essentially suggesting that I (and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi) want more troops to die or are willing to have more troops to die. Why is that an ok and acceptable statement, but confronting that statement is beyond the pale?

But for those of who you don't know, obviously I would never actually call up those three families. If you believe that I would actually call up grieving families and pester them to score points in an online debate, well I'm not surprised.

For the record I don't support Dennis Kucinich's position on this issue because I feel it is not an effective way of dealing with the problem, not because I want more troops to die. I don't for the record want more troops to die. Which should go without saying, but I guess it doesn't.

Did you know that his daddy, while in the Senate and head of Senate intelligence committee, mentored and promoted George Tenet. Were it not for David, Tenet would have been buried in the bowels of the spook community.

Also, did you know that on the morning of 9/11 Tenet was having a private breakfast with Senator Boren?
