I disagree with Rachel!
energy policy is a must tackled issue, and this president want to assure balance of climate change and fossil fuel is in order, in order to find willingness not from congress but negotiating hand internationality. I am confident Sen. Kerry is with the the WH on this issue, and maybe we need await a while before criticism is such talking-point-memo on the "human-network".

I am not happy to disagree with Rachel, but an open mind and independent disagreement is a worthwhile.

11. BTW not everything is black and white in a sentence!
What I meant to say was; Obama is the leader of the free world and that he is in negotiations with China, India and many other nations. We are not the only nation concerned with climate change...and we are not the only nation concerned cost involved in regulated commerce on environment.

2. I think the larger point....
...is that the Republicans will NEVER support Obama, no matter how much he caves into them.

8. That was my thought as well.
Boner is already on the air complaining that Alaska and the west coast weren't completely opened up to drilling.

I suspect that this might also be a calculated strategy to put east-coast Repubs in a difficult spot of either not supporting him (and thereby undercutting their own states' interests) or supporting him (and thereby risking the wrath of their party).

I can't see how it will pan out, but I definitely agree with your assessment.

16. Did you notice that the States where he wants to authorize
off shore drilling are ALL mostly Red States. . .those where a majority of Republicans were supporting the "drill, baby drill" slogan??

And that the "blue States" of the West Coast, and far North East, and West Alaska are NOT on the list???

I think it is a pretty smart move!

17. I doubt the President is looking into support from the Ruthugs
The president is dealing with much larger issue with regard to climate legislation.....

The Kyoto accord is still something we can be part of.....

3. I totally agree with you. Obama is going to get more done in the new energy bill
by making this concession, which can be modified later. He is running circles around everyone.

5. Okay but should these states decide to risk their shore based tourist industry.
It should be an upfront condition, that there will be no federal cleanup funds when their beaches are covered in oil.

6. Don't let the bashers hear that
It's easier to blame one or two people rather than going after the real targets.
