I got "hopey-changeyed" today, too.
I see that another DUer got one of Palin's pathetic punks shouting at them. Me, too. I was hoping I'd be the first! This also happened at a traffic light - the guy pulled up behind me, hit his horn, swung into my lane as I was the only one at the light at the time, and rolled down his window.

"Hey asshole! How's that hopey-changey thing working out for you?"

"It's working great! I paid less in taxes this year. How about you?"

(double take)

"Yeah, you paid less, too, didn't you? Come on, you can admit it! I can tell! Guess hopey-changey worked for you, too, didn't it?"

(snarl)

Light turned green and he TOOK OFF. I laughed the whole way home.

17. In The Interest Of Being Prepared...........
..........I think everyone here at DU should put our collective heads together and come up with a quick response to these jerkoffs that we all agree is hands-down the BEST response possible. I like the one about the taxes going down. I'm sure that would take them off guard because they've spent the last 2 years moaning about how high their taxes are going to be (some of them even insist that their taxes ARE much higher now). I was thinking of something along the lines of giving them a heavy, relieved breath and saying, "Oh, SOOOOOOOOO much better than when the Republicans were in power!!!" Then thanking them politely with a friendly smile and a wave and driving off. That's the key. ANY response has to include the friendly smile to let them know that they failed in their one and only goal (to get under your skin). Maybe we could put all the best responses up in a poll and have everyone vote on which one we think is the best. That way we can all be prepared for our opportunity to shoot down the Failin Flunkies.

50. I have another suggestion...
How about pretending not to hear them . (Huh? Pardon me? What did you say?) And then, after they've blown a gasket from yelling it at you, giving them a blank (albeit friendly) stare and an uncomprehending (also friendly) shrug, all the while smiling sweetly. This only works, of course, if you keep on smiling the whole time, benignly. (Hopey Changeye? What's that..I'm sorry, I don't understand you...)
With any luck, they'll pop something vital as they peel away.

Make em work very very hard. Or not. Just a suggestion.

87. I agree, a well-thought-out but NON-insulting response...
... is the way to go. The OP played it very well -- and accurately, too :) -- without simply throwing an insult in retaliation.

He/she got the best response from the moran because the dude was TAKEN ABACK! He was:
1) taken aback that the OP responded instead of hiding;
2) taken aback that the OP described a positive and unexpected scenario (e.g. lower taxes); and
3) taken aback that the OP was polite and concerned for HIS welfare.

If you're just snippy and insulting, it supports (in their minds) what their leaders and idols and opinion-makers have been telling them about Democrats all along. If you're polite and unashamed and sincere, you might make them think.

31. You're Kidding, Right?
Taxes went up for people like me, so most of the cuts were revenue neutral, intended to spread the wealth, unlike the Bush cuts.

Revenue to the gov't did not actually go down by all that much, compared to the prior fiscal year.

46. Clueless Morans
The morons who follow Mooseburger's bidding have absolutely NO followup if you just cheerfully tell them it's working great for you. It's because they haven't been told what to say in response, and it just shows you how robotic they are.

At the risk of coming up with a robotic pre-planned response for the morans, I suggest that in addition to the cheerful rejoinder, you can add "You don't know how to respond to that, do you? Why don't you call up Rush and ask him what you should say. Then your programming will be complete."

...what's gonna happen on one of these, is that the response will be 'You'd better 'hopey' that I 'don'tey' pull the trigger on my 'Maggey' (as in Magnum)...asshole!' Which is exactly what they'd do to us if the roles were reversed.

The Daily Show bit the other night, said it all...When they say 'we're gonna kill you' is a metaphor for working to elect Republicans'...we say 'We've got guns too, is a metaphor for 'We're gonna fight you with weapons if you start something'.

72. I might just say, "Are you speaking English? When did you arrive in the country?"

keyboard warriors. Easy to spot.

76. I can't believe they are actually using the phrase "hopey changey"
Do they even know those aren't words?

That teabagger might as well have said, "I fear change, and also I am incapable of independent, critical thinking, so I'll just say exactly what the pretty Alaska lady told me to say"

78. It's actually pretty funny to hear out of some self-professed alpha male.
I just can't believe some of my fellow older white males are such a-holes. But then again, they've had years to grow into it.

I may disagree with some of his policies and think there is a few things that need fixing in HCR, but in no way do I want teabaggers or the R's in control.
So yes I will have no problem letting them know, that things are better and the right has nothing to offer. DU is like family we may disagree and argue about who has the best way of doing things, but make no mistake we will have each others back.

You should try living in Marietta and working in Roswell. At least you are closer to little five points.

80. Outstanding!
I love it on two beautiful levels.
Shut em up and taught them at the same time! Once in a while one of these lamebrains will get zinged, do some research instead of watching Faux, and maybe realize they have been lied to by Republicans! And one less zombie!

I think flat out insults is stooping to thier level. There are times to wrestle with them in the mud but I prefer the way you did it.

Awesome, awesome, AWWWWE-SOME!

81. I saw a bumpersticker today
"I'll give your president the same respect you gave mine."

I thought about engaging the driver but thought better of it. Plus it's so wacked I wouldn't know where to begin.

Add the fact that stocks are up, and the new job report tomorrow is supposed to show job growth. I think the hopey-changey things working just fine thanks. Now, about that Republicany-Economic-Disastery thing we got rid of...

88. So cool!
Went to my spouses work and was hoping to run into a lady who I know would use it on me, unfortunately she was not there. My set response was "hopey changey? I tell you what, we can try to have an intelligent political discussion once your gal Palin gets one of her kids to graduate High School on time."

how many tea partyers there actually are? It seems like they get so much attention (especially from the MSM) for such a small number.
