They are in the form of a tent, and if you look at them the right way they look like that.

By the way, they brew better than your "flat" baggie.

21. The Tea Party is not monolithic.
Naomi Wolf: Tea Parties Help Fight Fascism

I was invited by the Ron Paul supporters to their rally in Washington last summer and I loved it. I met a lot of people I respected, a lot of "ordinary" people, as in not privileged. They were stepping up to the plate, when my own liberal privileged fellow demographic habituates were lying around whining. It was a wake-up call to the libertarians that there's a progressive who cares so much about the same issues. Their views of liberals are just as distorted as ours are of conservatives.

http://www.truthout.org/naomi-wolf-tea-parties-help-fight-fascism58127

I absolutely expect this article to be unwelcome here. I also expect the usual suspects to accuse of being on the side of teabaggers. I am on the side of truth and the lower and middle class, you know, the ordinary people of this country.

Not all Tea Party folks are racist. I liked the cartoon fwiw. It just doesn't happen to be 100% truth. Whenever possible, avoid finding any common ground with those you disagree with, am I right? I don't trust any Dems who willfully mischaracterize the arguments of the opposition. Don't be unwitting accomplices either. The division between right and left is less than the division between corporate interests and ordinary people in this country. My Dem Party embraces corporate America, who could have guesses we would become more like the party we hated.

28. Since you can go back and read it yourself
and I don't feel like it atm, I will base my response on memory.

I am wary of any discussion that leads down this path, but whatever.

Your quote seems to mock those who compare Obama to Hitler. Should we focus on individual sentences and the context or the piece in general? Whatever you would like to talk about is fine, I guess.

Would you care to explain your reason for asking this? As a sort of pre-emption, I will say that some tea party people are racist or tragically stupid. Again, that does not make the groups monolithic.

Don't know if anyone has plugged them already, but there are lots of counters to tea party like the Coffee Party that don't have the marketing budgets or media hype.

I read the comments and agreed with some...disagreed with others.

I just wondered what the quote meant. That's all. :)

Finding things to agree and disagree with, especially when the opinion comes from someone as well liked and respected as her can be very healthy and a good sign that someone is thinking for themselves.

I earned that label in elementary school. :D

The sentence just didn't make sense...

I know some right-wing people see the "health reform" bill as a government taker and I was trying to see whether or not she was trying to call it that and assert it's unconstitutional and all that other kind of crap.

33. The problem here is that the ORIGINAL Tea Party members were
Edited on Thu Apr-01-10 08:31 PM by truedelphi
People who were quite aware of the inner workings of this nation's economic system, and how illegal the Federal Reserve is. They were even open to the likes of Dennis Kucinich, and many others who were part of the Democratic Party but also who were making sense of the economic end of things. (Please note: Although Kucinich, Clemmons, Maxine Waters and other were making sense of what was happening, they had little power over Paulson back in Fall of 2008, or Bernanke at this point in time. Except to beg and plead for those people to come before their House Oversight Committee and testify.)

However, that movement has now been hijacked by the Talking Head Nazis like Glen Beck.

And so the people that are referred to in this article, while really alive and involved, these people have been usurped. And that is the whole point. The Powers that Be cannot allow for middle incomed Americans to come together and start discussing the basic problems that need our participation to straighten out. Instead, our voices are drowned out, while the Glen Beck/Limbaugh crowd shout at the top of their lungs, act intimidating, spit on decent Congress people like Clemmons, threaten Grayson's family etc.

The NEW Tea BAgger movement is in some aspects like the CIA led forces in Iran in 1953, who ganged up on the Iranian people. People in risk that year in Iran were those who had voted in a respected and likeable man, Mossadegh, to head their nation as Prime Minister. They were dragged from their cars, beaten, threatened at their work places, etc. Often the way that the Cia-led mobs knew who to get out of their cars were from items like decals that indicated their political views.

I truly believe that this NEW Tea Bagger movement is the creation of the CIA. In my entire lifetime, I have never before seen the News media give over so much time to so few people simply because they are having a meeting or two. And this nation's mainstream news never mentions any event or movement in a neutral or positive way unless it is seeking control over we the consumers. (Bay of Tonkin, one example. Nine/eleven is another.)

The Powers that Be must have Cohesion. And to do that they need us to be afraid all of the time. And to be so busy avoiding confrontations with crazy people that we don't have the energy left to form a third party that might pull us away from the AIG-controlled Fed Reserve and into a new territory of politics where the average person actually has a chance of having a job, making their rent or mortgage payment and feeding their family members.
