Just got my Census booklet---UGG! ----28 pages! |
|
I know it's important...but 28 pages?
This is really gonna cramp my American Idol TV time.

4. A small number of the population gets a long form. |
|
I got one in 1990. There are a whole bunch more questions they ask beyond the standard form. I guess recipients are chosen randomly.

And I loved knowing that what I put in would influence things for decades.

I remember when I was young my mom got the long form (I guess in 1980), and this year I was looking forward to it, but we only got the short form. We were out of the country in 2000, and in 1990 I was a stoner bachelor, so if I got a census form I probably threw it away :)

7. The American Community Survey? |
|
Sounds like you got the "survey", that they aren't defining as the actual "census". The census is ten basic questions. I think they're doing it that way so the anti-government folks have less to bitch about.

Beware of anything that looks like a census form and asks for you Social Security # or a signature. The real census does neither.

It was a bit of a pain in the butt, but not hard. I don't remember the 2000 census, so I probably got the short form. Got the short form this year and it took 5 minutes.

and quite honestly, I didn't mind it in the least. It's a snapshot of various areas of the country and how well people are actually living, not the HGTV version of yuppies and McMansions.
Since there were only 2 of us, it only took about 20 minutes to fill out.

I know that the American Community Survey is 28 pages and I thought this survey was supposed to take the place of the long form. Mine took less than 10 minutes/for 3 people

30. I simply filled out the form as any idiot could do-mailed it in the enclosed postage paid envelope. |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-01-10 02:58 PM by GreenTea
Uh, one does have to have the sense to insert the filled out form, into the postage paid envelope the correct way, so the scanning code is seen in the envelopes little window, so it can be quickly scanned once it's received by the Census Bureau.
I never read any of the "28 page" booklet, pamphlet, whatever, and I don't think anyone needs to read any of the "28 pages" either to figure any of this out....Creating a problem for oneself when there isn't one.
