and the value those leases have to lure new investors.
Even if the areas covered by new leases ultimately may not have enough oil or gas to make it ever worthwhile to drill there, they still benefit a company's bottom line.
Those new oil leases will count as assets which in turn allows for debt refinancing and attracting potential investors.
