Hartmann: Off-shore drilling a political coup for prez
He's stolen the Repukes entire energy "policy", and, combined with the increased fuel standards, will continue to decouple us from Big Oil while defusing the debate.

1. I was wondering how long it would take
to hear "He's stealing our thunder" again from the repiggies. Heard a reference to it yesterday.

4. The Repukes' answer to every energy problem is "drill off shore, then all problems
will be solved". Now that can't say that any more.

6. This is the most absurd logic.
The Republicans say something that its totally wrong, and terrible policy, and so to defeat them, we simply...... DO EXACTLY WHAT THEY SUGGEST.

WE WIN! WE WIN!!

5. Where I disagree with Hartmann is that: this is always the claim of triangulation
It's always the claim that it will "defuse" the debate and that somehow by dealing the Republican's platform we end up better off...

It's also always been bullshit.

We didn't end up better off under past triangulating attempts - we just ended up with a bunch of fucking conservative policy under a Democratic president.

9. He also said that we should join with tea baggers and that the DOW would be below 6000 by now.
Hartmann isn't always right.

15. I listened to his show today and he did say it
I'd be more inclined to think Hartmann was on to something if this administration hadn't just sold us to the insurance companies. I haven't been given any reason to believe they won't sell out to big oil as well.

18. Correct - republicans aren't able to put their money where their mouths are...
When those southern coastal RW's say 'drill baby drill' (or any of the rest of them for that matter) just where did they think that drilling *could* take place? They've already run numerous election cycles on it from pillar to post and failed their own policy. They've marginalized themselves, and have nothing to contribute to any debate
