Anyone on here musically inclined or know someone who is?
whoops, first attempt died -- let's try the repost

From time to time I get ideas for parodies that might be some fun to pass around on the intertubenets. Can't play an instrument worth a damn so I can't really do anything with what I come up with aside from post the lyrics. I'm just looking for someone to run the ideas by, see if they might be interested in making use of them.

Here's one I wrote after the 2004 dem primaries.

Goodbye Dr. Dean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While your campaign went and stalled
The media crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered "He's insane"
They set you on the pedestal
And they slung mud on your name

And it seems to me the campaign is gone
Like a fart in the wind
I don't know who to cling to
Now that the primaries are in
And I would have liked to vote for you
But who do I kid
The call was made long ago
No matter what I did

Candidacy was tough
The toughest role you ever played
The media created a superstar
And pain was the price you paid
Even when you quit
Oh the press still hounded you
All the papers had to say
Was that "scream" would never do

Goodbye Dr. Dean
From the disillusioned youth
Who sees you as something more than political
As much a victim as the truth

It's a bit too old to use, no longer topical, especially seeing as Dean is kicking more ass now than he ever could of as a failed candidate. Had another idea strike me today on account of the DVD thing which is why I'm posting, it's recent enough to be useful to someone.

Young man, there's no need to feel down.
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground.
I said, young man, 'cause you're HD-DVD won't play
There's no need to be unhappy.

Young man, there's an app you can load.
I said, young man, when you're DRM blows.
You can run it, and I'm sure you will find
Many ways to have a good time.

It's fun to violate the d-m-c-a.
It's fun to violate the d-m-c-a.

You can unlock every DVD to enjoy,
You can give the finger to that marketing ploy ...

It's fun to violate the d-m-c-a.
It's fun to violate the d-m-c-a.

You can get movies clean, damn that's quite the deal,
You can watch them wherever you feel ...

Young man, are you listening to me?
I said, young man, do you like your movies?
I said, young man, you do you want to be a stooge?
But you've got to know this one thing!

No law gets passed by itself.
I said, young man, big money pays for itself,
And look here, it bought the d.m.c.a.
You get the shaft with no lube today.

Young man, I was once in your shoes.
I said, I was down and out with DRM blues.
New technology was eating my wallet alive.
I felt that high-def was so jive ...

That's when someone came up to me,
And said, young man, google up some de-css.
It's a tool to break the d.m.c.a.
They can start you back on your way.

It's fun to violate the d-m-c-a.
It's fun to violate the d-m-c-a.

If anyone can make use of it, I'll hand it on over. I figure it should be enough to get some chuckles on the youtube.
