Rabbi arrested on suspicion of N.Y. rape

CHANDLER, Ariz., March 24 (UPI) -- A rabbi was arrested outside his Chandler, Ariz., synagogue on suspicion of raping a 7-year-old girl in New York 10 years ago, authorities said.

Rabbi Bryan Bramly, 45, was being held in Maricopa County Jail on a charge of first-degree rape, awaiting extradition to New York, the (Mesa, Ariz.) East Valley Tribune reported. U.S. Marshals and detectives from the New York Police Department arrested Bramly Tuesday, the newspaper said.

He is suspected of raping the girl in March 2000.

The victim, now 17, came forward and reported the assault in August 2009. It was not known why she waited almost 10 years to make the allegations, the Tribune said.

1. No single human can bring you closer to God than yourself
As no single human is free of human weekness. If you need God cut out the middleman.
