The funniest Republican running for Congress today...
is Tim D'Annunzio, who's running for Congress in NC-8, in a very large primary, woth the intent of unseating Larry Kissell. (Kissell, even though he voted against HCR, isn't all that bad of a guy.)

Let me tell you about Timmy and you'll see why his campaign is so knee-slappingly hilarious. Mr. D'Annunzio was a parachute rigger in the Army. When he got out of the service, he opened a small company sewing body armor carriers for the military. It's called Paraclete Armor--"paraclete" is a word out of the Bible; it means "one who intercedes on our behalf" and it basically refers to Jesus. Tim later sold that company to Mine Safety Appliances Corporation (it's now called MSA Paraclete) and opened Paraclete XP SkyVenture, the largest vertical wind tunnel in the world. It's used for "indoor skydiving." Actually no it's not--it's used by the Special Operations Command to train military freefall parachutists. He gets a little business from civilians, but it's dwarfed by his military business.

So...we have a nice, hardworking young man who has gotten rich largely off federal spending, and what's his number-one campaign platform plank? "Government spends too much so we must implement the Fair Tax."

Which means, I got mine, screw you. No wonder the other Repukes in the primary call him extreme.
