Turns out the Mormons have been secretly disciplining molesters too
In an additional complication to the case, Grant estimated that 30% to 50% of the Boy Scout troops in the U.S. during the mid-1980s were chartered by the Mormon Church, which has already settled its portion of the lawsuit.

Grant explained that the arrangement allowed Mormon officials to manage scout troops, rather than traditional Boy Scouts employees.

As a result, this arrangement meant the Boy Scouts knew that disciplinary actions taken against any adult volunteers suspected of abuse would be kept secret because the church considered it a private matter.

"They would know that, sometimes, results would be confidential," Grant told the AP.

Since the case began March 17, Clark has revealed six boxes filled with nearly 20,000 pages of files the Boy Scouts of America held on about 1,000 national volunteers who abused boys between 1965 and 1984.

The jury will be the first to see these files, known as the "perversion files" among the scouts.

The hypocrisy here literally knows no bounds. Hiding histories of molesters while spending humungous amounts to take away gays right to marry. I would say shame but they clearly are shameless.

3. Of course. When anyone points fingers at a group of people
the reason is that they themselves are guilty. The most anti gay 'ministers' and politicians always wind up in scandals. Always. Anti gay 'theology' is never, ever anything but a distraction, a rhetorical device.

4. In the words of John Irving, all men are "sexual suspects" in the Mormon church
Not just in Boy Scout activities sponsored by the church, but all activities. Men, whether they are single, married, young or old, high ranking or newly joined, are NOT allowed to be with minors (either individuals or groups) without having at least one other adult present. This means every church activity, including Sunday school, nursery, etc.

When I first became aware of the edict I thought it was directed at unmarried men, because it reads something like "single men shall not be in the presence of a minor or group of minors without another adult". But the word single doesn't refer to the man's marital status, it just refers to whether he is alone or not at the time.

Of course women aren't profiled under this practice. A single woman can continue to be alone with a minor or a group of minors.
