Could the Ronald Reagan idolatry get any more thick? His show was ostensibly about the republican debate, but it was actually just a video blow job of RR. From Barnacle to who-gives-a-fuck tripping over themselves to suck off RR from the grave, as if he has ANYTHING to do with the debate. Does anyone recall live remotes from the CLINTON library prior to the Dem debate? I know, I know...the repub debate is taking place IN the Reagan library, so it gives them a pretense of an excuse...but from the opening segment, where they showed the massive 100+ acre compound and called it "humble," to the fawning over the old Chasen's booth where Ronnie proposed to Nancy, to Chris Matthews practically coming all over himself with praise for Reagan...WTF?

Prissy Chrissy even went on to name all the great presidential libraries..."The Kennedy library, the Truman Library, the Nixon (????) library...) Of course, the Clinton library wasn't mentioned. Just an oversight, I'm sure; nothing to do with partisan politics. Matthews could barely keep his GOP hard-on under his desk.

This was one of the most loathsome episodes of "Limpball" Tweety's ever hosted. And that's saying a LOT.

Bill Maher was absolutely correct...their love of Reagan borders on gay (not that there's anything wrong with being gay, unless you're trying to use it to divide the country). Must be that "liberal media."

I was stunned at the lovefest. And I'm getting a really bad feeling about the cream puffs likely to get lobbed at these bozos by the likes of Tweety.

you can bet these folks are setting the table to make republicans look good. The whole Reagan association is not by accident. For that matter, the total inflation of Reagan is a con job.

28. I was in the military during part of Reagan's presidency. He was not loved and he had an extremely
corrupt administration.

This deification is a mystery to me. His one redeeming quality was his ability to deliver an oratory with the perfect inflection of emotion. Although, of course, like most Republicans, he never wrote his own speeches. To him, they were scripts, which allowed him to play the Gipper role into perpetuity.

4. I'm glad I don't watch any of this nonsense, except KO of course.
Yeah, KO, Stewart, Colbert.... that's about it. Most of the time anyway.

Except I did watch Hardball a little after seeing that he had some good stuff going on re. the Coward's veto last night while channel surfing.

But as a general rule, I don't watch him or any of the other clowns. No weekend crap either... Russert and all the rest are useless.

10. LBJ
I'm an Austinite. I like the LBJ library. It is free and it's kind of a neat place to hang. There are several UT Campus museums right there all together....The LBJ Library up past the law school. Then The Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Modern Art, also on UT campus, not far. It's a fun little circular museum journey and easy on foot.

9. It was disgusting!
But what else can repubs talk about? They've robbed, pilfered, and destroyed so much on their disasterous watch. Their candidates suck so what else do they have, but to elevate Reagan to sainthood. Having the debate at the Reagan Library is part of their con job may-be to woo back some of the faithful that jumped ship.

23. This is absolutely according to Rove's playbook. Rove has Tweety's cell phone #
Edited on Thu May-03-07 02:00 AM by loudsue
you can count on it. Remember during the Plame hearings? Rove & Tweety were on the phone that time, too. Rove told Tweety that Plame was "fair game".

Rove IS trying to reel in some of the reagan repukes....that old nostalgic thingy...to try to convince people that this is still the party closest to their hearts.

And you can BET ON IT that the questions will all be softballs. I refuse to watch it, and I hope their ratings for that night SUCK.

It was gag-inducing.

I'm not holding my breath for Matthews to hit these guys with too many tough questions Thursday night. And, I kinda thought it weird that they have 2 different moderators for the 2 debates.

Isn't Matthews a big fan of Guiliani? Should be *interesting* to see how he handles him tomorrow night.

20. We check him out only in the last couple of minutes or so before "Countdown."
When he comes out and acts like a man and apologizes for the damned shameless, embarassing, ridiculous gushing of "we're ALL neoCONS now!" on "Mission Accomplished" day four years ago. Why don't you show us your presidential kneepads, tweet? Did georgie autograph 'em for ya?

He is worthless. I know a young lady who interned with his show several years ago while at Georgetown. All she could do is roll her eyeballs when you asked her about him.

Edited on Thu May-03-07 12:39 AM by Horse with no Name
I think that the Democrats were set-up. I mean...why put Bushlicker Brian Williams to ask them questions when Keith would have been a much better moderator?
So they give Democrats lengthy pauses to talk about $400 haircuts, yet cut them off when they have substantive answers about policy, you can bet your shorts that Tweety won't waste time asking them about haircuts, airplanes, lightbulbs, etc...and give them plenty of time to answer their substantive questions instead of bombarding the field with partisan mudslinging.

24. WHY isn't Keith Olbermann doing the "honors"?
We all KNOW that Tweety is only Piggybacking on the popularity of Olbermann, it's obvious..

And like I said last week, and many disagreed with me, that was NOT a Debate, the questions were front loaded to force ISSUES that SLAMMED Dems.

Will there be a SplashGuard to keep Tweety Spittle OFF the Repigs? :)

You want the TRUTH on Ronald McDonald Reagan? I got it all RIGHT HERE in this FLASH I created when people Finally NOTICED he was DEAD.

25. I saw the promo earlier in the evening on where it was going to be.
I knew then and there what it would turn into. The cult of Reagan is alive! Could anything be more sickening or misplaced then the overblown idolization and worship of such a mediocre President? Reagan wasn't fit to sniff Bill Clinton's jock. Chris Matthews is NBC's biggest tool.

30. They're desperate
Conservative Republicans are desperate for an image that doesn't involve corruption, pedophilia, death, destruction, obstruction, grand juries & resignations. They put all their rotten eggs in the Bush basket and they're now facing the disgust & contempt of their own base.

So they dig up Ronnie & reminisce about the good ol' days & try to pretend that the diaries don't indicate advancing Alzheimer's.

That episode of Oddball was nauseating. I'm surprised they weren't in tears & singing "Auld Lang Syne".

Who'd have thought admiring the Iran Contra crew would be preferable to celebrating "Death with Dick & Dubya"? :puke:

31. Did they move that old Air Force One into place just for the debate?
I was half watching and heard them talking about how they had to move the plane and have supports especially designed to get it into the position they wanted.

It just reminded me of the "Mission Accomplished" photo op. What, they couldn't get a whole frigging' aircraft carrier into the background for the debate, so they had to settle for Air Force One? :eyes:
