2. Oh the worst of this is over
unless this triggers a major quake up the fault. Which geologically that is possible.

3. Not looking forward to getting back to work -
I'm working in one of the old Convair buildings off Pacific Highway, and I have/had a philodendron in a vase on a rickity old typing table next to my desk on the second deck. Not to mention all the skylights in those buildings - since they're talking about cracked glass in the Sports Arena not a mile away, I expect to come to work and face a lot of yellow tape along the way to my office.

4. I can't wait for hubby to come home
MLS must have been fun (POWAY, main post office processing station)

There are a few places that will do worst, and yes, that is ON the sandy terrain which intensifies the damage.

I am on the second deck in a condo in the valley, same substrate... and I had a lot of stuff fall all over the place.

6. Well local news is funny
they are disappointed that the full emergency plan did not go on. And of course they had the medical calls, color me surprised.

7. LOL TV will always 'awfulize'
But you were right that people need to lay in supplies of potable water. If that shake moved the cell towers enough to disrupt service, there are bound to be some cracked pipes and contaminated water.

8. Yeah I need to go get some water myself
I think I will in a minute or two.

By the way, my ride back from the coffee shop was FAST... and I am happy to report I am in good shape. I wasn't even close to winded.

9. Wow....I live in The Valley but spent the day in Malibu w/friends
for Easter. We didn't feel a thing. When I got home, in Studio City, my place was absolutely fine. I didn't even know we had an earthquake until I got online.

13. Well that is both good news and bad news
yes you expect the overload, but that can be a serious problem for emergency responders
