Why we need to save Public Education
This is in response to another thread, but also to the comments in my local paper.

Here is said thread:

Now, the reason I quote that is because, while much of the bile thrown at the Church is LONG overdue and JUSTIFIED, there are many people who love to show a homophobic bias. Now, I am someone who, were it not for the fact I grew up when the church went hard right (the reins of JP II and Benedict), I might have been a priest. I know full well that the Catholic schools and Churches DO teach homophobia, and they do it in subtle ways that allow so called "liberals" to hide the bias.

Now, why am I so bent, because frankly, if we lose public education, the Churches will step in, and they will work to put Toxic Memes into the head of children, ones like "Child Molesters are mentally ill, LGBTS are mentally ill, therefore LGBTS are just like Child Molesters." I remember this meme taught to me by a very "liberal" Nun that thought Ronald Reagan was the literal Anti-Christ, and that Liberation Theology was the only hope for the world. I cannot stress how liberal she was in some respects; to this day I have no doubt she would have gladly died to stop Ronald Reagan. Yet, she thought LGBTs were sick. Now, if certain memes could affect certain people who are "liberal" imagine the possible damage done once desperate parents are forced to shovel their kids into "christian" schools. Don't say "oh the parents have a choice", I remember when my public school district was dead last in New Jersey, and many parents put their kids in Catholic school just so that their kids would not risk having part of the roof fall on their head.
