1. Honestly, I have heard nothing about this ...
... and, quite frankly, I don't see why I should trouble my beautiful mind with the accuracy of the story, nor its implications.

It's past time to send in an armed team and rescue the staff. Hope they're all still alive.

10. Barbara Bush released from Houston hospital
Barbara Bush released from Houston hospital

Former first lady Barbara Bush was discharged from Methodist Hospital on Wednesday following what doctors think may have been a mild relapse of her Graves disease, a thyroid condition for which she was treated 20 years ago.

Bush, 84, was “alert, talkative and appeared to be getting stronger” as she prepared to leave the hospital, according to a statement released by Methodist.

Accompanied by her husband, former President George H.W. Bush, Barbara Bush went to the hospital Saturday. A spokesman at the time gave vague explanations for her distress, saying she wasn't in any pain but did not feel like herself. After a series of tests, doctors adjusted her medication.

Graves' disease is an autoimmune disorder that causes the thyroid to become overactive, in older people causing fatigue, muscle weakness, loss of appetite and weight loss. It mostly affects women — by a 7 to 1 ratio over men — though the former president also has been diagnosed with it.

In most cases, Graves is easily treated with medication. Untreated, it can be life-threatening because symptoms sometimes include irregular heartbeats.

Methodist's statement said Bush is expected to make a full recovery and should soon return to her normal activities.
