Fox & Friends' Steve Doocy issues stern FATWA to Harry Reid: Be careful when you demonize teabaggers

Fox host to Reid: ‘Be careful’ when you ‘demonize’ Tea Parties

One Fox News host seems to think poking fun at Sarah Palin is the equivalent of mocking the entire Tea Party movement.

In a newly unearthed video, Reid is shown at a campaign event mocking Palin, who recently traveled to his home state of Nevada to fire up thousands of anti-Democratic Tea Partiers salivating at the thought of ending the Democratic leader's tenure this November.

"I was going to give a few remarks on the people who were here a week ago Saturday but I couldn't write it all on my hand," he said, as the crowd laughed and applauded. "You betcha."

The quip was a clear reference to Palin's appearance at the movement's first major convention in February, where she was caught reading crib-notes from her palm during the Q&A session.

On Tuesday morning, Fox News host Steve Doocey suggested Reid was belittling the whole Tea Party movement with that remark.

"Democrats have got to be careful about how they demonize and try to marginalize the Tea Partiers," he warned, referencing a new Gallup poll that found ideological and partisan splits within the movement. "A majority of Tea Party supporters are not Republicans," Doocey said.

1. Oh yes they are R's, or lean R. Some of them are not officially R's because
the R's are not fascist and monstrous enough for them. Many of the teabaggers think Hitler didn't go nearly far enough or kill nearly enough people. But if the teabaggers gain control they will fix that, yes they will. Liberals, gays, non-evangelical Xtians, anyone who can read and write, all will be dead if teagaggers get their way. You betcha.

3. wait the poll that shows only 8 % are self identified as Dems?
I'd hate to push away the party that is made up of 49 % Rep 43 indep and 8 % dems. The one with 70 % conservative and 22 % moderate voters. Yeah Reid was sure to be able to pull those type of people come November.

9. Most of them I think. rop
When I think of teabaggers I think of my mother's generation - many of them dropped out of school by 8th grade or before and never read a book after they left school and they hate hate hate people who do read and people who can write and spell and people who do have an education.

11. Yes, the Teabagger signs are truly appalling.......
At the very least those sign-makers don't spend much time reading/writing.

I'm guessing that a lot of the Teabaggers, even if they are literate, are the sort of passively angry people who have spent their adult lives not voting.

As David Frum put it: "When people are angry and alienated, they don’t vote. They succumb to feelings of helplessness."

13. Maybe a majority are not Republicans but almost NONE are Democrats.
I really don't think they know what the Hell they are. they are just dolts... There should be a Party named just that...The Dolts...They truly are unable to debate any subject because they know so little about it. Guns are the ONLY thing they seem to know much about. That and intimidation....

14. Steve Doocy is dumber than Michelle Bachmann. He used to be local here in the metro D.C area ...
a goofy little dipshit, sent out to report meaningless fluff pieces. A potato chip that looked like Ronald Reagan? Doocy was your boy. He clearly hasn't gotten any smarter in the interim.
It's really comical for those of us who remember him to watch the insignificant little twerp now that he tries to take himself seriously.

15. Weren't they pushing a poll that showed
Teabaggers were 62% republican and 38% independents and democrats (not sure if those were the numbers but good enough). Hmmmm... Why would they lump independents and democrats together? Because it broke down to 11% democrats and 27% independents. And I'm willing to bet good money that the people calling themselves independents are doing so to keep the republican percentage from getting too high, and the ones calling themselves democrats are lying.
