CNN pushing the meme that loss of life and explosions are part of the miner's way of life |
|
They are painting the image of the stoic miner's wife and family. "The way of life in a mining town."
I submit this is wrong on so many levels. Loss of life and essentially being slave labor led to the organization of mine workers.
A union shop would not have let conditions deteriorate, as evidenced by the numbers of safety violations issued over the last year.
Nothing about W's evisceration of MHSA using a recess appointment to put an insider at the head of MSHA.
How about a review of what was going on both at MHSA and in the mine CNN?

1. If what they are pushing were true... |
|
It would be fodder for a campaign to close them all down.
These people are being treated like slaves! Disgusting.

2. It's disgusting that CNN always blatantly shills for BushInc's fascist cronies. Kingdom Holdings |
|
ruined that network for news, but, it certainly helped them protect BushInc and their fascist cronies.

3. I was thinking the same thing... |
|
They get some guy who wrote a book about model rockets as an expert on life in mining towns...
That was really lame...

4. True, which is more reason that strict safety regulations should be |
|
demanded and made to happen. There still will be accidents but they would be fewer and with better outcomes. Mining is very dangerous. There is no doubt about it.

So incredibly wrong, to not be talking about how to make their lives better.

its foolish to imply all jobs carry similar levels of risk but regardless whatever can be done to make them safer should be done.

8. Danger is a part of many important jobs. Huge safety violations and a blatant neglect for human |
|
life should not be. It's that simple.
Mourn the dead, fight like hell for the living.

9. interesting that the "COMMUNIST CHINA" mine collapse actually had |

survivors, and the non-union, "pro-capitalism" WV one didn't have survivors (it appears) ...
