Gasoline prices could hit record this month: AAA

Wed May 2, 12:24 PM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. retail gasoline prices could hit an all-time
high by the end of this month due to ongoing problems at the nation's oil
refineries, automobile and travel group AAA said on Wednesday.

Gasoline prices have surged 30 cents since early April to $2.97 a gallon on
average, bringing them within a dime of the record struck after Hurricane
Katrina shut down refineries along the Gulf Coast in 2005.

"The nationwide average price of self-serve regular will probably hit $3
per gallon in the next few days, and could possibly set a new all-time
record high price before the end of the month," AAA said.

Gasoline stockpiles in the United States have dropped by 15 percent since
early February amid an unusually high number of refinery outages, alongside
robust demand and low imports.

3. jumped 5-cents from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning
last week it went up 10-cents overnight ($2.79 to $2.89)

This week on Tuesday evening it was $2.89-$2.88, yesterday morning (wednesday) it was $2.94, some stations had it at $2.99

I did manage to find one station still selling it at $2.89, but they tend to lag behind the price jumps by a day, so it's probably up to $2.94 by today.

5. It's all because Clinton's Penis closed down those refineries...
and he didn't have an energy plan either. The price of a gallon of gas will start dropping now, we have a Texas Oil Man as President, just watch and see....

16. I suspect the "original source" is long gone.
I've googled it myself, more than once. It seems
to get a lot fewer results than 2 years ago.

7. Price Of Crude Dropped Again Yesterday, Price of Gas Went Up Yesterday Too
And the delta (difference) between the two is called Exxon's profit. Last week they - once again - announced their largest quarterly profit in their history. You paid for it, I paid for it, the world paid for it. Profit.

9. Somewhere the sun is shining...
Edited on Thu May-03-07 05:58 AM by Hubert Flottz

Somewhere the sun is shining -
Somewhere the sky is blue
Somewhere the silver lining is shining for me and you

And I know that the road is a hard one to travel on
Over high mountains and by the sea strand
Out of the valley the sun never shines upon
To the gold glades of that sweet promised land

Somewhere the sun is shining -
Somewhere the sky is blue
Somewhere the silver lining - is shining for me
Shining for me, shining for me and you

Somewhere in a little offshore bank account the sun is shining to beat hell.

8. There's a guy in my neighborhood...
... who drives the biggest Hummer on the market. A huge, hulking, black, badass model with tinted windows and personalized plates that say, "GASHOG". I suspect he's quite proud that he probably pays more for one tank of gas than some folks get in take home pay every week. Hell, he probably claims its his work vehicle and got a tax break for buying the damn thing. It's the poor and working poor who will really pay the price for soaring gas prices -- both at home and with their blood in Iraq.

12. Cut the BS, the real reason for record gas prices is GREED.
Speculation, manipulation, spin and lack of planning results in massive payoffs for the few and a tighter squeeze on the working class.

13. Whatcha Think Is Driving The Market Higher?
The rich get richer...while millions are giving up fixing up the house or going on vacation or just fighting to survive, those with stock portfolios, especially with oil stocks, are living large. Now wanna venture a guess how many of our politicians...both parties...are in the former not the later...they're making money, too...and most people don't care where those profits come from.

14. It's all about getting more fuel efficient cars if Americans demand them...
Edited on Thu May-03-07 06:50 AM by cooolandrew
... as consumers the car manufacturers have to produce them. Hybrid cars are totally the way to go if you can afford it giving 4 times more mileage to the gallon. I hear some places do hybrid conversions. But what about the cost in electric ? Well with solar panels pretty soon they would pay for themselves and give you free domestic energy.

And here is my flaver of go-juice, Distillate (Diesel)

Stocks are running at the upper range of normal. So why is the Diesel price paralleling UNL?
