If I had a dollar for every time I heard that statement over the decades, I’d be a Republican – or at least a Republican wannabe.
But now, I agree. Love it or leave it! Why engage in endless debates with people that just don’t get it? Freedom, that is - people that are hellbent on changing our country into something that most Americans just can’t understand. I think I’m being uncharacteristically very conservative when I say “most Americans”. In reality, it’s overwhelmingly most Americans. Americans love freedom – it’s in their blood. We don’t do royalty well here. That’s why it’s truly time to hang the “Love it or Leave it” banners.
There is a fair share of people in this country that prefer a king – or at least a one-party ruling administration. The President (or would-be King), these people believe, should not be disagreed with. His (or her) rule is absolute. This neo-utopian society is not to be confused with a socialist dictatorship such as Cuba or the former Soviet Union. It’s more like China – an entrepreneurial dictatorship. Sort of a Stalinistic Starbuck Society – which has one more “S” than one of the last great attempts at this. (any resemblance to Starbucks Coffee Conglomerate is purely incidental)
Since this new society is so totally out of place in a country yearning to be a free society, they will simply have to leave. I suggest Guantanamo, on the western edge of Cuba. Weather is pretty good most of the year and the uncanny urge to “spread” their utopian vision may work out pretty well in neighboring Cuba. The idea of a dictator isn’t a foreign one to most Cubans and they may well embrace a conversion to a pay-more-as-you-go economy. After all, crumbs are better than water. Better be careful with their health care though. The natives have been known to throw overboard outsiders ripping them off before. Either way, the “detention cells” already in place at Guantanamo could come handy for a little “reeducation”.
There may be a little problem with communications. I know that the neo-utopians are fond of inter-connectivity. They like being able to listen in on their neighbors’ conversations – sort of a village conference center. Since everyone is so much in agreement, and everyone loves the King, there’s no need to be concerned about privacy. Privacy aids the enemy anyway. And you know about the enemy… the enemy is freedom.

there would be an endless line of conservatives leaving the country. There are evil liberals and evil sodomites in every town from coast to coast, now thats something to hate about our country. And all those People who take advantage of their freedom to not attend any church, people who have the freedom to tell the truth about the hate and evil and lies of conservatives. People who have sex they way they want. And yes, the conservatives who are free to hate, hate, hate.
Conservatives do not love our country, but they do spout forth cute little slogans they are instructed to.
