Teen files criminal charges against his mother for comments she made on Facebook..

A teenager in Arkansas, however, has become so annoyed with his mother's Facebook intrusion that he has reportedly decided to sue her for harassment.
<snip>
I know there are one or two parents who might be reading this, so I wonder how many will admit to monitoring their 16-year-old's virtual (and, therefore, actual) life. And how many might admit to commenting on it on their child's Facebook page?

5. my kids comments are like this...
son: "I wish my mom would get off her lazy ass and clean my fucking room"
daughter:"send her the fuck in here when she's done"
other daughter: "What the fuck is she doing anyway?"

then the cousins on opposite coasts chime in and everyone is appalled at my children's comments. Usually I am in the room when this gets started and it's just a joke. I say, "Geez, too bad your mom doesn't clean your room" and it begins.

7. Ridiculous...
... He can start by "unfriending" his mom. If that's not enough, he can tighten down the controls from 'friends of friends' to 'friends only.'

Worse case scenario, he can block his mom. That feature works amazingly well. (Or, amazingly awful, depending on which side of the block you find yourself on.)

So, the controls are there... Use them!

Sounds like a publicity stunt to me, but then, I'm spouting without having read the story at the link. :P

TYY

14. The story is a little more complex than that
It seems that the mother (who does not have custody due to various issues including a nervous breakdown) obtained the password and signed in as the son and was posting messages as the son. The original article on the local TV station's website has comments from someone claiming to be the mother that are certainly not helping the case.

9. Parents should be banned from Facebook.
Just as a matter of principle.

I see nothing wrong with it and frankly neither do they. Our extended family and friends are also all on facebook. I also keep an eye on what they are doing online and I will not apologize for that.

11. The mother lacks legal custody of the child.
That means her "mother" status does not confer the usual rights to supervise and intervene in his life.

If the child's legal custodian did all this, he'd have no legal basis for complaint.

12. Inaccurate title to begin with...
people can not file criminal charges, only the government can.

13. Obviously past time for 'dear' Mom...
to repossess all the puters in the house.

And tell those lazy kids to clean their own rooms.
