Poll question: Is 'Kill or Capture' the same as 'Wanted, Dead or Alive?' |
|
Other than the spelling, numbers of syllables, etc.

5. Wasn't "wanted dead or alive" issued after a trial? |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-08-10 01:01 AM by grahamhgreen
How, why, and by whom was it issued?
Was it legal? Did it really exist?

7. So, we've reverted back to extra-judicial frontier justice, have we? |

10. Wanted, Dead or Alive... |
|
is artifact of extra-judicial "justice". GWB used it, in deference to the wild west, in referring to his quest for Bin Laden and was soundly mocked for his swaggering cowboy approach to justice.

12. "is artifact of extra-judicial "justice" |
|
Do you study frontier history? I don't and I doubt GWB does.
I am not trying to be snarky, I really don't know much about frontier justice. I have seen a lot of Westerns, but I don't consider them factual in anyway.

13. "Wanted, Dead or Alive" is not and has not been U.S. law enforcement policy. |
|
It is a story, perhaps expanded more in mythology than actual policy, of the "wild, wild, west."
I don't know what the point is of your poll, but U.S. law enforcement does not release requests of "Wanted, Dead or Alive", except, apparently, Obama.

9. Well, for the first time we actually admit to being a country that assassinates people. |
|
So if that is better transparency or just an eye opener to people I dunno. War crimes don't care who is in charge imo. What are the legalities behind assassination, internationally? We won't even get into the fact that it is an American.

11. No we've been fully opening about assassinating people for quite some time |
|
The question is about assassinating US citizens.

14. Not at all. "Kill or Capture" is in English. "Wanted, Dead or Alive" is in cowboy. |
