So I must ask the question...
What is it that is left, that separates us, from that which we fight?

Please read the Wikipedia definition of a Death Squad.

A death squad is an armed military, police, insurgent, or terrorist squad that conducts extra-judicial killings, assassinations, and forced disappearances of persons as part of a war, insurgency or terror campaign.

In our lust for whatever it is we are looking for, safety perhaps, we have slowly become what it is we claim to fight against. Death Squads? Really?

And you know what? I know we have been killing people covertly for years and years. We aren't supposed to know about that. That's why they call it COVERT. It's called deniability. We aren't talking about spy vs spy here, we are talking about having an open policy of LEGAL DEATH SQUADS. Yeah it's a really great idea, announce to the world that terrorists have us shitting in our little panties so much that we are burning the constitution and pissing on the ashes. So much for American ideals.

You know, a few days ago I posted about how I went from a left winger to a far left loony without ever changing my ideals. I just watched the line move towards the right. The last thing I said in that post was "If you keep moving the line I'm going to end up in the nut house". Um... that was supposed to be a joke. And now I sit here and I see the line running down the street... laughing.

1. It worries me
when people act like I am the far left for defending the need to abide by the constitution.

I remember a few years back when having a copy of the bill of rights was considered a sign you might be a threat to national security.

2. It worries me too
Its also troubling that we seem to have a great many people on this board who dont see anything wrong with this.

I swear the Democratic party has been infiltrated with former Republicans who switched sides because they saw opportunities in the GOP drying up after Bush was selected in 2000.

The riech wingers have been using infiltration/subversion tactics for decades. Why would anyone think that the opposition party would not be targeted also?

13. Thom Hartmann was asking a guest this morning if this RW violence
was just the last gasp.

It sure doesn't look like the last gasp to me after the last few days.

3. the end never justify the means
it's the journey that matters. If we can't stay with being a nation of laws, then there' s no reason to defend the hollow shell of our Constitution.

What's stunning is how radical defending the rule of law is perceived. We've become a nation of cowboys.

6. I'm worried too.
I mean, this stuff is not what our country stands for.

Yes, it is I am sure what our country does and then says it didn't. Which is bad enough.

But to just come out and say that's what we do and that it's OK because it's more important to be safe than to defend the Constitution? That's what made us so mad about Bush.

But I guess that's something some people will never see. To them it really is just a game of blue shirts vs. red shirts, and whatever the red shirts do is wrong because they're the other team, and whatever the blue shirts do is OK because that's our team.

12. Apparently, killing civilians and just offing people the government doesn't like
is all righty when our government does it now.

14. That was my point.
BEFORE, we denied ever assassinating people. NOW, we openly admit to murdering people for the greater good. What have we become?
