4. What a shame that the only remnant of this great comic strip

is those hideous "Calvin peeing" stickers that every douchebag redneck asshole seems to have in the rear window of his pick em up.

My theory is that nobody who has one of those things on his car has ever read "Calvin and Hobbes" or knows where Watterson got the names.

The creator never licensed Calvin and Hobbes for any kind of merchandise, so any such stickers are an infringement of his copyright and being made and sold illegally.

ETA: Watterson: Actually, I wasn't against all merchandising when I started the strip, but each product I considered seemed to violate the spirit of the strip, contradict its message, and take me away from the work I loved. If my syndicate had let it go at that, the decision would have taken maybe 30 seconds of my life
