I got caught smoking on an airplane-long ago thank goodness.
It was the pre-histaronics era. Yes I was dumber than a bag of republicans tied together. I've grown up a lot since then. And quite smoking. So give me a break there Ok...

But it has always been stressfull flying to meet relatives. Especially when your bible thumping brother is along for the ride. Not having an chance to light up enroute to the airport and his insistance we not take a break in the lounge. But I made the mistake of sneaking a cig in the bathroom.I had done it before. A friend showed me how the sink drains were vacuum operated. Hold your cigarette by the bowl with the drain open & it sucks in the smoke. So I figured no bigee.

Well they had upgraded the smoke alarms & the friggin instant I lit the damn thing-Bweeeeeeeee!!

I was red-faced & fessed up to the stewardess. They chose to scold me & not make a big deal. My brother-like I care-still brings it up 26 years later.

But I dare to think what would happen to me now.

2. Thank goodness the flight attendants chose to scold you!
And thank goodness you stopped smoking!

That diplomat should have known better.

He was an arrogant idiot!

7. Isn't that unreal?
I remember smoking in all sorts of places, on planes, in offices, etc. About the only place you couldn't smoke was the grocery store...! It was so normal then, but sounds crazy now. Imagine 20 or 30 people on a plane smoking!

15. Yeah, the free country in which smokers were free to force smoke on other people in confined spaces.
The people who didn't like the smoke didn't feel so free.

Oh, and no use anyone else settling down here with popcorn. I'm not going to argue about this any further. My point is made.

Did one hits, held it for a long time and blew out the smoke through a wet towel into the cabinet space under the sink.

12. June 2nd 1983 27 years ago a plane crashed because of fire starting near the lavatory
25 people died.

That triggered new regulations which led to the upgraded smoke detectors.
