Read about someone who cared too deeply: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Ochs

Listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulTmmTIlM_o

Listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5pgrKSwFJE

Listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTjRPugJ8CA

many more songs that told these truths, some recorded at http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=search_video...

And more only in a lyrics compilation at http://web.cecs.pdx.edu/~trent/ochs/lyrics.html

A truth teller, as any who view those performances or read those lyrics can see.

Phil Ochs, along with U. Utah Philips, was sort of my introduction to protest music.

tragic way to go, and a huge loss.

3. Here's to the State of Mississippi......
.....was recalled in multiple posts last week in re. the heteros-only prom thingie that went on a few weeks back in that particular utopia.

I remember OCHS well. Sad death. Too good for this world, I suspect.

Great life. Underrated as a musician and poet. Some things ( and some people) never go out of style.

Right now I'm thinking of 'That Was the President and That was the Man'.

10. Phil's not really dead
He's just missing in action.

There's a documentary of his life being made now; my guess is that it will be released next year in conjunction with the 35th anniversary of his death.

http://philochsthemovie.com/

I'd like to think Phil would smile at the irony of that imperialist piglet Christopher Hitchins singing his praises (third video).
