Rachel has been on this story like a dog chewing a bone. The whole C Street mess is going to bust wide open.

I believe this has more to do with Stupak's decision to leave, than the rough time with the healthcare bill.

4. Me too
Stupak was playing to his base with this abortion bill nonsense. and would have been easily re-elected. He was a cop for many years prior to being a congressman. I don't believe the baggers scared him. So what would be his reason for this decision...what else is looming in the future about Stupak...Rachel has been on this for months.

I believe C-Street is the real reason.

2. I hope so - because if it dies down it sure won't go away and others won't be exposed
How many more of them, subsidized housing for high officials by groups unknown to the public, do you think are out there?

6. Stupak isnt the only one living at C- Street
Coburn is sure vocal and antsy about it. That was my next clue. Rachel raked him over the coals last night. She isnt giving up on this story.

9. Here you go
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fellowship_%28Christian_organization%29#C_Street

Read the whole entry. The Fellowship is pretty creepy.

8. I think it's more likely his religious 'friends' have turned on him
since he really didn't manage to stop HCR all by himself, nor did he manage to use it somehow to ban legal abortion.

No, it doesn't make sense, but nothing about the antiabortionists makes any sense.

12. And He Drew Light To Their Little "Love Nest"
Not that the upcoming Ensign scandal won't blow the lid off what really went on behind the doors there (and I hope it takes Coburn with him). But you could see how touchy C Street types were to all the focus being shown on their "arrangements" as a byproduct of his attempts to coopt the HIR vote.

What slid under the corporate media radar during this debate was how C Street lost its non-profit status and is now the focus of several investigations. Good bets is Stupak lost his nice $800 a month "room and board" within walking distance to the Capitol and will soon have to pony up the difference...as well as find new digs that surely will cost a lot more. Sounds like he's getting out before the real shit hits the fan.

17. Shuler
Iwouldn't count on it. John Boyle wrote about Shuler living on C Street several months ago. Since then there have been a few letters and a short bit about the ethics complaint. The 11th is so conservative it will probably help him. The only way I can see it will hurt if it becomes common knowledge it is more cult like than church like.
