More good news for America, bad news for right-wing media

April 09, 2010 10:03 am ET by Eric Boehlert

It was bad enough last week when conservative pundits, committed to rooting for bad economic news in hopes of a political advantage, had to endure the demoralizing news that 162,000 jobs had been added to payrolls nationwide. Now comes the painful revelation that retail business jumped in March, as well.

Ugh!

From the WSJ {emphasis added}:

Retailers Thursday reported strong year-over-year gains in sales at stores opened more than a year as indications continue to grow that consumers are spending again.

In addition to improved consumer confidence, retailers also benefited from easy year-ago comparisons, increased Easter shopping and warmer weather.

"Retailers are smashing expectations," Thomson Reuters analyst Jharonne Martis said.

1. How many of these jobs were living wage jobs?
How many of these jobs were full time, 40 hour jobs?
How many of these jobs had benefits?
How many of these jobs were not temporary jobs?

2. Right now a job is a job.
Ask the people looking for them.

3. If we are going to create jobs, lets do it right the first time.
Otherwise it just slows the circle around the drain a bit.

We 1st have to get the people in office who will make the changes necessary so that things will improve. All we get from the status quo is "well It is a problem but I am not sure we can do much about it." That is pure baloney. Congress makes laws and laws are what leads the country in one direction or the other. We cannot go on with this income split and the economy will be crap till it changes. you cannot have people going around just getting by. who is to blame them for trying illegal economic activities.

4. Haven't you heard? We don't need good jobs, just 'consumer confidence'
See how that works?

Not enough consumers and businesses now with real time inventory control can get by with reduced staff, inventory , and equipment. But where is that getting them really.

7. A good number of them were temporary Census jobs.
In another month or two, there will be a good number of people unemployed again.
