Amid Cuts, Ohio Judge Tells Citizens To Carry Guns
(04-09) 08:00 PDT Jefferson, Ohio (AP) --

A judge in an Ohio county is urging citizens to be vigilant and carry firearms because of budget cuts to the sheriff's department.

Ashtabula (ash-tuh-BYOO'-luh) County Common Pleas Judge Alfred Mackey tells Cleveland's WKYC-TV that the cuts mean citizens should arm themselves and watch out for their neighbors.

The northeast Ohio county is the state's largest in area and is mostly rural. With deputies assigned to transport prisoners and serve warrants, one radio car is assigned to patrol 720 square miles.

6. I WISH that was ONLY as far back as we are devolving to.

Unfortunately, from what I can say and the trends brewing withing, I suspect that like the Germans in the 30's we are devolving all the way back to a medieval state of mind.

But with better marketing and PR. The good news of us is that Hitler and the Nazis destroyed the "Nazi Brand" of RW Authoritarianism so it is more likely that we will get a "kinder and gentler" more Bushie variety of RW Authoritarianism. Still lots of medieval scapegoating, anti-intellectualism and a return to "peasants and uber-wealthy", but "kinder and gentler".

hooray. :-(

7. Oh, nooo . . . We imported the NAZI brand and tens of thousands of Nazis post-WWII....
See Operation Paperclip -- run by Allen Dulles --

they founded the CIA with these NAZIS -- and funneled many into the FBI --

and many into other government agencies -- Werner Von Braun/NASA, for instance!

You have to make the American public really stupid to get this far --

One of the saddest things is how easy it is for the right wing to teach hatred/violence ---

and say it's "natural"--!!

And, folks believe them!

And, how easy it was for the GOP/NRA to sell their gun ploy -- and how many Dems have

jumped on that violent bandwagon!!

9. Yes, we imported them...but QUIETLY
Because the Nazi Brand was discredited. If it wasn't discredited the Dulles-Bush Faction (now the Bush-Cheney Faction) would have imported them gleefully, out in the open.

Plus, Prescott Bush would have been PROUD of his deep friendship with the Nazis, instead of having the M$M cover it up and bury it for almost 70 years (really, it's still 100% censored in M$M).

OTOH, our overall positions aren't the much different, d&p - we are quibbling over minutiae.

:hi:

12. No, in many ways we brought about Nazism
Many spiritual mentors of Hitler came from the US, Henry Ford being the most prominent. IBM gave the Nazis the technology to carry out all of its plans, and many corporations provided financial help.

If the Nazis hadn't had many strategic US contacts, they wouldn't have gotten beyond being a beer hall drinking club, much less taking over much of Europe.

We simply took back dividends on our "investment" at the end of the war.

3. How is this news?
If you've ever lived in a truly rural area, you know that law enforcement is typically 30-45 minutes away most of the time.

5. And as in all 'mostly rural' areas, you are more likely to be shot by
your brother in law than by a stranger.

These are the same places where you can leave your car idling as you run into the post office, where you don't lock your doors at night, and a crime spree is kids from the JV team taking baseball bats to mailboxes from the back of the pickup.

Too fucking weird.

13. this is the county I grew up in
It is a very large land area county (a little over 30 miles by 30 miles square) but it does have city across the north of the county and in the county seat making the sheriff responsible for about half the county. It is downright scary though to have only one car for such a vast area.
