TODAY college professor Donna Brazile, former presidential campaign manager for Al Gore and current CNN political strategist, gets Ebony's Outstanding Women Award along with Michelle Obama. Meanwhile my longtime friend told me what life's been like. Said Donna whose whole family lost their all in Katrina:

"First I couldn't find them. I spent months searching rubble in Louisiana using all my connections to battle the bureaucracy and locate them, then relocate them and get essentials to them so they could breathe again. My entire family was stripped clean. They had nothing. I've had to work four jobs to support them. Only this past year did I finally get my one last lost relative out of a trailer and get to my mother and father's grave site to replace their washed-away tombstones. Girl, I tell you, a nightmare."
