6. While I don't consider him a liberal lion
I do think his angry dissent from the horrible 2000 decision that handed the presidency to the BFEE will be taught in classes on constitutional law from now on. It was a thing of beauty.

While I haven't agreed with everything he's done, he's done his best for the people and I wish him an enjoyable retirement. He's earned it.

8. I think Stevens shows how Conservative the court has become...
When appointed, he was considered in the center of the court. Now he is often called it's most liberal member. He has voted to reinstate capital punishment, racially sensitive admissions programs such as the program, and sided with the more liberal-leaning Justices on abortion rights, gay rights and federalism.

The court has certainly shifted so far right since he entered the court that he is now one of the most liberal members.

Please, I am not saying he is liberal, only that his record on cases before the court has him siding with liberals more often than not. I find it interesting that a man who used to sit at the ideological center is now hold down the left edge.

We have a long way to go to bring the court back to appoint where it reflects even a centrist view of the world.
