Keep your powder dry, just wait a bit longer, etc....

In the end, you just need to compromise to make others happy. Step aside for the common good.

And this one:

"Things are getting better, you just need to wait longer, there are bigger issues than yours right now - from war funding and bailouts to compromise on health insurance (cause single payer might upset the rich corporations and lawyers).

If this were 1860 we would hear "Just wait on slavery, we enacted a law giving slaves some new protections, but we don't want to upset too many people right now, just wait and keep being slaves and be damned grateful we did something for you."

1. Everyone under this bus needs to be careful to not tear the Constitution, under there with us.

2. If only this administration had passed historically monumental legislation...
and had agreed to a massive, world-changing treaty for the reduction of nuclear weapons.

That would really be something.

5. Orrex, you are pointing out just how effective this president can be when he wants to.
Can't you see why that frustrates people when he seems to be deliberately ineffective on other important issues?

8. I see that many struggle with injustices that I am fortunate enough not to have to face for myself.
However, it seems to me that the issues and political realities are more complex than is commonly understood.

In any case, little is served by reducing his presidency to a Dr. Phil "thrown under the bus" soundbyte.

12. Tell us here how when I was in hospital my partner was kept away from me?
Edited on Fri Apr-09-10 11:43 PM by HillbillyBob
or That couple from Washington state were set to go on a cruise and had a medical emergency and Jackson Mem hospital kept her away from her partner of 19 or so years while she fucking died?

Or how its not important that I was outed in the Navy and lost my career and being trained for a career and being from coal country and getting put out of the service I could not do the same thing in civilian life. I was an Air Traffic controller and trained and could not get a job so I had to work shit jobs for shit people who tossed me aside because well Im just a faggot. When I was injured on the job and dismissed and now live on a little ssd check because the bastard lied and said no I did not work for him i was just a contractor. I had w2s and could prove that I was actually an employee. If I had not been outed I would be retiring this year with a nice income of about 45 to 65g instead of 800$ a month.

Or when the kkk bastards tried to burn my house down the pigs wrote me a ticket for shooting the fat white sheeted bastards in the ass with rock salt loads out of a 12pump instead of investigating.

Or that we have to pay taxes as 2 individuals because we can't get married legally because we are fags.

I could go on and fucking on and im godam sick of this wait for a better godam time.

The Ds are pissin away the support that we gave them, they ask for $ every other day..I haven't any to give to DLC or DNC. I might deign to eat beans and rice for a week to donate to a progressive, but not any of these .......

You have undeniably been tremendously fucked over--nothing anyone can say will change that.

17. Orrex that was not directed at you personally

I have heard the same crap from every administration/political operative.
Now is not the time my ass we have been waiting and supporting and campaigning to save this country from the other side who are determined to rule or destroy it when they are not in power.

DOMA, ENDA, and DADT, Public Campaign funding are if not on top of my list they are very important directly to me.
The biggest problems facing this country are corporate take over or destruction of any good left here.

I will not be campaigning, I will not be donating if scary sarah wins I guess so be it. I ll keep the shot gun handy or the long range rifle for the next theocrats that come up the driveway...

to add; The environment is supremely important, but it all goes back to corps influence and campaign bribes, we end that maybe we can start to get a handle on the rest.
I get enraged about the way gays are treated since we are Legally Strangers in courts of law. A long term gay couple can have wills deeds etc, but those are routinely overturned I have had several friends where one died they might have equally funded balance or unequal, but as a couple they are not recognized and 5 of 7 times the blood family showes up gets a court order and evicts the survivor. One case both had all their assets jointly and the blood family took even his clothes and a couple gold records(he was a producer/songwriter) and ended up with nothing. I ll leave it at that since its a long story and I can provide any number of examples. I know it happes in straight relationships, but not nearly as often or nearly as total.

:pals:

Anyway, what I said still stands. You've been horribly fucked over. I hate stories like that, and I wish that they were less common.

10. So we should not ask for/demand more because we got 'some things'?
"Settle for less, because it is better than nothing" is not a really good slogan IMHO.

I/we kicked bush ass for years because we wanted more, I won't just stop now because the party holds the congress and white house - if anything I think we should be more critical and active because we now have the power to make the changes we need/want and are not doing so.

11. Who said anything like that? Certainly not me.
Instead, you're declaring that anything less than everything is nothing. That's a strategy that's 100% guaranteed to fail from the outset.

Here's what I'd like:

Give me a detailed agenda that you think represents the proper order for these things to be accomplished, along with a thorough explanation of why everyone who isn't at the top of the list doesn't deserve first priority. You'll also need to explain why everything that isn't in one of the top two positions doesn't deserve first or second priority. Likewise with item #3, and so on down the list.

Name a more significant nuclear arms treaty in the past few decades.

Or do you have nothing more substantive than smileys?

20. A moldy crumb and a symbol...
Historically monumental world-changing.

More like grasping at straws.

And the saddest thing is that it will work.

21. So a 30% reduction in nuclear weapons is "grasping at straws?"
Forgive me if I don't accept your assessment as compelling or insightful.

22. That would be symbolic. I didn't say it is a bad thing, it's not, but to pretend
that a 30% reduction is anything but symbolic is disingenuous. Just as many people would survive an exchange of 20% of the U.S./Russian warheads as would an exchange of 70%, so an 80% reduction would achieve exactly the same results.
