Alabama evangelist found guilty of murdering his wife and storing her body in a freezer

MOBILE, Ala. -- A jury in Mobile has found a south Alabama evangelist and former paratrooper guilty of murdering his wife and storing her body in a freezer for years.

After deliberating for less than two hours Friday, the jury also found 39-year-old Anthony Hopkins guilty of rape, sodomy, incest and sexual abuse of a child between the ages of 12 and 16.

Hopkins was arrested in 2008 while preaching at a rural revival in Clarke County. He was charged with killing 36-year-old Arletha Hopkins, a mother of eight.

But why highlight this just because the perp is an "evangelical." Next time a lib/prog commits mayhem, it will be highlighted by the right. So what? People of all political persuasions are capable of such crimes, yet both sides seek momentary political advantage when the crime can be pinned on a member of the opposition. The perp may also be either gay or straight. Again, so what?

I really don't think this has anything to do with the political battles that are important to fight.
