Justice Stephens--Only Protestant Left
I heard on NPR that Justice Stephens is the last Protestant left on the Supreme Court. I would hope that his replacement would be a Protestant, or no religion at all, just to balance the court and make it more representative of the country's population.

1. Aren't most of them Opus Dei?
I'd rather have all atheists :) I don't want hyper-religious people dictating to us all..no matter their particular brand of mythology :(

2.  a long time ago---

many thought that jfk would take his orders from the pope. fundamentalist churches across the country preached against the catholic church. the hatred of the catholics was second only to the jews.

now our lives laws will be determined by a supreme court that is catholic.... there`s millions that are turning over in their graves.

personally i want a justice to be fair and impartial and would explain their decision. more importantly, a justice that would leave their politics and religion at the door. i think i`ll not get any of my wishes.

3. Thats about the time that I personally decided I don't believe a word of it
the bible that is. I seen it as a tool to be used by a few to control the rest of us. 48 years ago its been and I haven't been struck by lightning yet. I'll go on to my next life very much looking forward to it bypassing both heaven and hell.

5. Religious Balance vs. Religious Imbalance
Don't get me wrong. I'm not religious. I'm not arguing for any religion. But I'm realistic. There WILL be a justice replacement who at least professes to some religion.
President Obama is going to have a hard enough time picking a candidate that the teaparty-types won't complain about. Can you imagine the outcry if he picked a person with no religious affiliation?
