Miami-Dade Teachers might all be sick on Monday. Schools bracing to close down.
People are SO angry at their Republican legislators. Students, parents, school boards, faculty, administrators. No one likes the Republican legislation. For a state where strikes by public employees are against the law, a sick out would be a pretty powerful message. Even Governor Charlie Crist calls the plan "incredible". Many teachers plan a protest in Miami.

The Republicans want to "teach" our children like they already live in a
Communist country. They want every teacher and every kid marching to their own version of education. Imagine a country where every kid thinks alike and where every teacher is saying and doing the same crap. That is the country that these Nazi-like Republicans have in mind. I just wish my county had the same bravery as those people in Miami. If things go as I think they will, the Republicans will try to crush their little insurrection with swift and harsh punishment. This is not the continuation of a Democracy.

Once this terrible law goes into effect every other state will jump on it. Arne will be thrilled.

4. Communism and Nazism are not the same
"Communism" is not in and of itself a totalitarian ideology, which is what your post implies. Communism is not the bogeyman Joe McCarthy and the John Birchers made it out to be.

5. which students.
Which students do the teachers get? give the very best teachers the worst kids and see what happens. give the best kids to the worst teachers and see. I would bet both would move toward the middle. this puts an incredible amount of pressure on teachers. It does not seem to factor in other influences. all the students would have to be of the same background and same ability for this to work. the "bad" schools will have to get the best teachers. that is not going to happen now. it seems that they could already tell who the really bad teachers are. how hard is that? Bad teachers are bad and it shows up pretty quick.

7. Good!
They should all do it, across the state. That pieces of legislation and the lies it is based on would make anyone sick.
