Two Former Senators May Find Themelves Out of Board Positions with Kyrgyz Revolustion

Looks like former Senators Bob Dole and Bennett Johnston are on the board of a Kyrgyz bank called AsiaUniversalBank (AUB).

During its final weeks in power, the Kurmanbek Bakiyev regime blocked websites that reported on an Italian arrest warrant for Eugene Gourevitch, a board member of AUB until last year and a close associate of President Bakiyev’s controversial son, Maksim Bakiyev. The latter’s home was reportedly torched by demonstrators during the revolution.

A correspondent familiar with Kyrgyzstan tells me that inside the country “it was well known that the chairman and supposed main owner of AUB (Mikhail Nadel), Maksim Bakiyev, and Gourevitch were all thick as thieves.”

2. Bakiyev is like a mafia boss

Since the provisional government took over, it was found out that the treasury has only $118 million dollars.

And the Kyrgyz government has received BILLIONS from the US for use of an airfield and fuel service contracts. Bakiyev, his family and his buddies have drained that country dry, with the tacit approval of the US government.

3. Business as usual.

The USA loves to back corrupt regimes, throw taxpayer's money at them to look the other way, and not give a damn when they use a country's treasury for a candy store. I have always been against foreign aid for this reason. It's never given to the countries that really need it and it's never put into the hands of those who really need it. American tax dollars at work and we still don't have decent national health care or other things that money could be used for domestically.
