Just posted on Meg Whitman's site |
|
I just posted this on Meg Whitman's site. In case you don't know her, Whitman (ex-CEO of Ebay) is trying to buy (excuse me, running) for governor of California.
Your voting record I noticed several news articles stating you failed to even register to vote until about 2002. As a concerned citizen, this failure to engage the political process is cause for deep concern. We have seen what a political neophyte has done as governor of California for the past seven years. The governor's office is not something that is for sale, and by all appearances you are simply trying to overwhelm the opposition not with ideas but with campaign spending. Government is not a business; if you honestly think a Democratic-controlled legislature is going to say "how high?" when you say "jump" you quite naive indeed.
Casting a ballot is the basic duty of every American, especially someone who would aspire to govern our state. Your failure to do so is inexcusable. I just can't find a way to support you in your campaign.

Reduction of welfare to 2 years maximum lifetime benefits. Cut Government jobs all the usual insane freeper talking points.
She's a no-nothing, silver-spooned, entitled, coddled, vicious woman who deserves to go down in ignominious defeat.

S-C-A-R-Y!
Crazy scary.
But then we will end up with Di Feinstein, my husband makes money every time I sign a piece of legislation, not matter how fascist that legislation happens to be.
We have the choice this November of S-C-A-R-Y or Crazy Scary, which is to say we are screwn.

22. Jerry Brown not liberal? |
|
Do you think that a man who is running for Governor who is called 'Moonbeam' on a daily basis might be presenting some restraint in his rhetoric? The idea that Brown is not that liberal is laughable.

don't fall for this nonsense. However, I have lived here for 40 years and find that they do indeed fall for some pretty lame shit.
I really think Arnold actually thought he could do a good job just using the shear force of his personality. Meg is worse, much worse. This is nothing but a big ego trip for her. She offers nothing new. She says she wants to bring jobs to California. Well, duh. Everyone does. Saying so won't make it happen.
How she will do that and simultaneously lay off public employess should be quite a magic trick.
Buy It Now Meg. I give her a poor recommendation.

5. She says "bring new jobs" while also firing "gov't bureaucrats" |
|
basic math tells me that might not work.
And, she never says what these "new jobs" will pay. I can only imagine what a billionaire thinks is a good wage...

And I actually thought he didn't sound half bad. If I were registered in the repub primary (shudder!) I'd vote on him based on her commercials.

would probably be the perfect name for the coup d' etat that would finish off the State of California. The only person who can turn around Pete Wilson's and Arnold's incompetence at the helm is Jerry Brown.

25. yes, the coup d' etat or total destruction of the state of California is |
|
almost complete. I'm not sure if even superman Jerry Brown can fix it. And I love him as atty general, it's the perfect match for his talents.
California was the 6th largest economy in THE WORLD before the repubs got jealous because we vote for the democratic candidate in presidential elections. i remember when bushco "won" the first term and i knew we were in trouble. sure enough, his enron buddies set out to destroy the state.

9. Meg Whitman is Fiscally Irresponsible |
|
She has already spent $27 million--seven times more than her opponents--on her bid for the governorship of California. She may be a billionaire, but Californians ought to shudder at anyone who is so cavalier about about spending that much money on her/his campaign with November still a ways away.
My candidate in these difficult times is someone who models fiscal responsibility, and this woman tells me off the bat she's out of touch-- big time-- with the current struggles of most Californians. One republican has already bankrupted the once Golden State. Californians would be insane to elect another rob and spend republican.

Q: "Why is a billionaire spending upwards of $100 million of their own money for a job that pays $175,000 per year?"
A: Because they plan on getting back that $100 million multiplied several times, over 6 to 10 years.
Cheney was worth about $100 million before he became VP. After 8 years, he's worth about $300 million thanks to the Iraq War.

17. She's a typical corporate Republican in the new corporate mold. |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-10-10 01:36 PM by Cleita
The purpose of these CEO politicians is to divert as much of the state's Treasury to their corporate interests while cutting as many taxes for the same as they can get away with until they bleed the state dry of assets and leave it broke. I guess Arnold didn't complete the job or they would leave it to a Democrat to clean up after them this time.
