Major flip flop for her. She SUPPORTS A NATIONAL SALES TAX!

Skills matter. Life experiences matter.Bachmann: Right. We actually, this is a man-made, government-made disaster, this economic conundrum we’re in right now. We could see ourselves go forward next quarter already if we do a few things, if we would do this. If we would permanently zero out the capital gains tax for four years, so that we could let people know that for four years there would be zero capital gains tax. Take the business tax rate from the second highest in the world, 34%, and cut that down to 9% for a corporate tax rate, that would be bring in foreign investment and jobs back into the United States. Completely eliminate the death tax, completely eliminate the alternative minimum tax, and then I think that we need to bold on income tax. Scrap the income tax code, and put into place a tax system where everyone has to get in on the game.

Whether it’s through a national sales tax, or whether it’s through a flat tax, and my personal opinion, I’d love to see in our perfect world a flat tax rate that’s no more than 10% on any American on the federal level, and then that’s it. And then we would pull way back on our spending, including eliminating the federal department of education. We don’t need the federal department of education, that function needs to happen at the state level. And then we need to go through, dramatically change what government does, that we truly are a constitutional government acting under our enumerated powers, and then we do no more, because the number one duty of government is to protect the health and the safety of the American people, and we need to make sure that we focus on first things first.

2. She probably supports it INSTEAD of the income tax, not IN ADDITION TO it.

3. How do you watch Fox?
I'm not trying to criticize you. I'm just wondering how you are able to stand watching it. Wondering if you have a magic trick -- like imagining the fox a--holes wearing a raccoon on their heads or something.

6. I love to turn on Faux Snooze when there is a terror incident
It's amusing to watch them freak out. And it's even more amusing when it turns out to be a guy smoking a cigarette on a plane.

4. "We don’t need the federal department of education..."
And, in fifteen years, every child raised and educated in a "Red" state will be unemployable for anything beyond menial labor.

Is that REALLY what they're after? Why do they hate America?

5. I'm sure she supports the "Fair Tax"
which is a national sales tax, but to be fair to her, that would be in place of the income tax and not in addition to it. I don't know how these people can keep a straight face when they try to tell us jobs move overseas because of the meager taxes they pay instead of the fact that they can pay Chinese workers much less than American workers with no benefits and totally disregard the environment and worker safety.

7. I don't think any of these fair tax people understand how much the sales tax needs to be
if we abolish the income tax.

As soon as Suzy Homemaker has to pay $130 for a $100 worth of groceries, they'll get it.

10. They quote us 30%
and to sustain budgets like we had under Bush (I'll throw away this year because the stimulus and TARP has the budget all out of whack) it would actually have to be around of 50%. They say we can just cut spending to make 30% accurate, but then why don't we just cut spending?! I think if you get a 30% sales tax (let alone 50%), you force alot of the economy underground and/or we revert to barter.

8. agreed we dont need a national sales tax. we need to slash military welfare $$ and corporate welfare
tax laws since corporations are now considered to be persons, they should be paying person tax rates on income like we do.

Sales taxes are regressive and hurt poor people more than wealthy.

And btw the tax code is written to allow wealthy people to keep their money from taxation while spending it on themselves tax free.

9. So when this was proposed by
Richard Shelby, Jim DeMint and Richard Lugar, she thought it was fine, now she thinks it isn't. I don't like it either. And the reason is the poor and middle class who buy most things in this country will be the ones who get stuck paying thru the nose.
