3. I've posted this at DU multiple times before |
|
The Enquirer breaks these stories because they hired up the investigative journalists being fired from papers around the country prior to the OJ Simpson trial.
Obviously, nobody here admits to reading them, but they are at the forefront of this type of journalism. Also, they've been sued before, but IIRC, they have not been sued successfully since Carol Burnett's suit.

4. I remember that they came up with the most damning evidence against OJ.. |
|
..when they published him wearing the shoes at a Monday Night Football game that made the footprints at the murder scene.
OJ had said "I don't own those ugly ass shoes"

5. The New York Times called them the "paper of record" |
|
at that time.
I don't buy the Enquirer, but I'm not stupid enough to think that they haven't broken some of the more important stories over the last couple of years. If they win the Pulitzer for the Edwards story, heads will explode in the media.

7. They also broke the story about Palin having an affair with the Toddler's business partner. |
|
THAT story needs a follow up. And if they get a Pulitzer, then it will lend even more weight to that story.

Certain journalists tell the truth, double check their facts, hire excellent lawyers, and are lawsuit proof because they do their homework, but most people refuse to believe them.
Two examples: Michael Moore and Kitty Kelley.
Truth is a defense to slander. Some people don't like to see their media idols taken down as human beings, and sometimes not very nice ones at that.
Kitty Kelley has a book on OPRAH coming out tomorrow. Should be good for an uproar, as her books always are.
