Do you personally know anybody who has Obama Derangement Syndrome?
I mean not just disapproval of his policies, but people who become batshit insane upon the mere mention of his name?

Including my mom, some siblings, and a couple of friends.

I avoid contact with them, except for mom, and I don't really feel safe talking with her beyond saying: "I love you mom!"

Anything beyond that is dangerous territory. It's so sad, because she is a very good and loving person (of course, she's my mother), but she is so fucking brainwashed that it breaks my heart. She is a devout Catholic. Probably goes to 8:00 AM Mass every day. (shit, maybe more often than that). I left the church at the age of reason. The torture (doing the stations of the cross was torture enough for me), and cannibalism (eating his body and drinking his blood) themes kind of creeped me out at a very early age. It's mom's whole fucking deal though, so it's a little hard to communicate.

They all hate Obama though, because he isn't a rethuglican. I honestly don't think my family and friends are racist. (except for one brother who is a total Nazi fucking asshole). They just think all things progressive are evil, socialist...whatever. :banghead:

8. No.
I tend to avoid people who might be subject to it. One of the joys of being retired is that I don't have to put up with idiots at work, and I can hang out with whomever I want.

From what my grandsons tell me, their dad, my daughter's ex-husband, may fall in this category, so I'm doing everything I can when I see the boys to counteract any negative influence he's having on them. I won't call him out specifically, because I think that would be harmful, but I do let them know that Grandma and Grandpa think Obama is just fine, and that it's okay for people to have different opionions about public figures. I tell them to keep their little minds open and make their own decisions. The kids are 11 and 8. I don't how much they understand what I'm saying, but I'm saying it anyway.

9. I stopped associating with those people long ago. However...
... I'm tempted to call this Repuke I know to tell him that I've realized that all his worst fears about Obama are true.

He gets agitated really easily, and this might push him over the cliff.

Unfortunately, I think I'm the one who convinced The Southern Poverty Law Center to remove him from their list of hate groups.

So, I think he might actually do some real damage if I gave him that push.
