On Michele Bachmann's planet, an evil ruler named "Obama" controls 51% of the economy
Bachmann’s latest invention: Obama has nationalized 51% of the economy

Michele Bachmann must have missed her calling: instead of becoming a fiction writer, she took to politics.

Though the two professions do have some overlap, namely incremental story-telling methodologies, Bachmann seems like an individual who'd do much better spinning a web of complete fantasy as opposed to tying rhetorical inventions to anything containing an element of truth.

As many fantasy enthusiasts have discovered, facts can be sticky things.

Take, for example, Bachmann's Sunday appearance on right-wing message outlet Fox News. Speaking to television personality Chris Wallace, the Minnesota Republican congresswoman claimed that under President Obama the U.S. government had absorbed 51 percent of the nation's private economy, thereby, in Bachmann's mind, validating her claim that Obama has "anti-American" tendencies.

Her claim about the economy is, of course, wildly untrue.

"Bachmann says 'we've gone from 100% of the private economy being private' to now the United States 'owns or effectively owns' 51% of the private economy," scoffed Jason Linkins, writing Huffington Post's Sunday talk show roundup. "This is what's called, 'complete bullshit.'"

1. *sigh*
I loathe this woman too, but sometimes I think that the constant negative attention that liberals give her just makes the Freeper types love her and value her more, and thus contributes to her political standing and power. I wish we could just ignore her as the nonentity she is in hopes that without the "Oooo! Look how much the libruls HATE her!" factor, the Freepers will get bored and forget about her. However, considering the knack she has for saying and doing things that piss us off and entice us to rant against her, I think that's pretty unlikely.

9. I hear you...I absolutely do, and you're right.
It's probably the single greatest reason why she's taken on a new level of popularity and teamed with Palin, because she's learned from her. Palin realy has become her mentor, and as Machiavelli wrote, "it is better to be impetuous than cautious."

After the first few salvos fired over her head by the media, Palin took careful note of how her "base" responded. What did she do as a result?

SHE...GOT...CRAZIER.

So what did Michele pick up from all of this? We've ALWAYS called her crazy, but NOW she sees that craziness as...just like you phrased it...a way to increase her "political standing and power."

It will spontaneously combust at some point...I don't care how gullible the American public may be. Crazy is crazy and sooner or later the joke will play itself out.

11. o yes. it's sad.
this obsession with the clowns just makes them stronger. I don't get it. It's got to be something akin to, for example, calling people who watch American Idot idiots...

3. I wrote an email to Fox News Sunday. I asked them to
do to Ms Bachmann what they did to Tammy Duckworth: do a fact check. The funny thing is, in the "fact check" of Ms Duckworth, they were lying, so it didn't matter, but I still believe fact-checking Bachmann might be worth it.

I also told them I was surprised FNS didn't have a single Democrat on the show today--Joe Lieberman doesn't count because, while he might caucus with the Democrats, he was rejected by CT Democrats in favor of Ned Lamont--which I'm sure was an oversight, but I'm hoping they make up for it next week by having only Democrats as guests, especially since Democrats control the House, Senate, and WH.

4. The saddest thing about this is I saw Chris Wallace mid-afternoon on Faux with Shannon Bream teasing
the replay of the show at 6PM and he talked about crazy Bachmann saying this, but he said it as if is true. He said he hadn't thought about it that way before but once she pointed it out to him, he was "struck" by how much of the economy Obama has taken over.
Chris Wallace is one of the less batshit crazy Faux News people, yet he seems to have swallowed her crap like pablum.

5. I think truly the word she wants is "regulate".
As in, "Traffic lights regulate traffic." Sometimes one might say "control", but that is by no means that same thing as "own." As in, "If I debated Michele Bachmann, I would own her." I think her mouth is unregulated, though. And possibly under the "control" of the Teabag mothership.

6. Wallace's challenge did expose the bullshit pretty well
he said, but Bush was the one that did the bailouts.

She said, yeah I didn't like that.

But regardless of whether she liked it, it pretty much destroys the idea of Obama being a radical, eh? Wallace didn't ask this, he should have, but it's blatant enough that I bet there are at least a few viewers out there whose brains are functioning enough to ask it to themselves.

I have little doubt that this evil ruler will soon bury us all in a volcano...or something.

12. If I were walking down the street and saw that face coming toward me I would
get to the other side of the street not even knowing who she was. She really does not express the look of mental stability. And that's before she even speaks. I'm even more concerned about those that vote in an individual like her...
