Ran into an Ex US Senator From My State On a Flight

....you never know who you might run in to flying three times a week....well yesterday I ran in to a former US Senator who is a REP. and someone whom I worked on his campaign as a paid staff member some years back..... He was happy to see me at first as I approched him in the and we exchanged greetings.....he said you stll active in politics.....I said yes I knocked on 700 doors over a two weekend period in Billings MT for Sen John Tester and spent several weekends doing the same for Kerry/Edwards and worked from home calling for Obama/Biden....he said...BUT!!!! those are Democrats...yes I said and he said what happened to your strong REP values I said they went down the toilet shortly after George W Bush was elected and the party began to talk language of HATE and FEAR.... Well that isnt true he said.... I said well lets take a look at last week whe your old buddy NEWT called Obama the most RADICAL PREZ ever.... He said ahhhh...that is just politics I said how about your partys contineuous calling Obama a SOCIALIST...again that is politics.... I said then What if I said your old buddy Ronnie was RADICAL and Bush Jr was a Dictator .... he said that was offensive and not true...I replied and said that is just politics but your party get its knees bent behind the neck when those statements are made.... I said we are now reaping the Reagan years attack on labor due to the fact that wages have not kept up with demands and outsourcing is still tolorated and the CEO are making 400 times average what the employee makes to run a company in to the ground.... I said when is ok for a President to over rule the constituiton and order paperless wire tapps on US citizens and to use lies to get us in to a war.... he said never... I said Bush JR did that didnt HE???..... by this time he was looking for way out...

I told him when the REP party rids itself of its phoney family values....loses they hypocritical church affiliation....hold those members accountable for contrary behavior.... begins to offer solutions to help the middle class increase their pocketbooks instead of saying NO anmd when they begin to return to the Teddy Rosevelt values then I would think about coming back until then....

The gate agent called for FIRST CLASS BOARDING.... I told him not to be a stanger at the destnation end of the trip....

1. Good for you!
You stuck it to him...

Not everyone would have been able. Maybe, just maybe, you struck a chord in him.

Something for him to think about!

about "chord" below BEFORE I read your post.
Hope that you don't mind.

2. I sat behind Dan Rather once on a flight. All I got to do was shake his hand and thank him
Well done! Yes there are perks to flying a lot sometimes.

4. Thank you for making your points reasonably.
And, most of all, thanks for a) recognizing that you and today's REP party do not "fit" one another and b) actively working on behalf of DEM candidates!
That the former US Senator knew you personally and knew that you had formerly been an active participant in the politics of the REP party may actually have struck a few chords within him and make him really think about what you said. We can always hope.

:applause:

11. "Aahhhh...that is just politics"
No, it's more than that, and thanks for trying to point it out to him.

It's not all theatrics, and "just politics" has real effects that are dragging us down.

13. ran into a senator a few years back..he chided me for giving customer service agent a hard time
...he said I'm sure there's a more peaceful way to settle this..he even offered to give up his own seat...of course, I had no idea who he was at the time...he was tall, thin and good-looking though.. I did calm down, and felt like an arsehole afterwards...yeah, nothing like getting told off by the future POTUS...

17. The old fool is pretty damned oblivious to the harm the GOP has done to America
Thank you for your efforts to educate ol fool. Seems a pointless effort. He/they just won't face reality.
