If Karzai DOES join the Taliban, what reasons would there still be to have our troops there? |
|
Wouldn't a Karzai/Taliban alliance totally discredit any remaining reason to stay in Afghanistan?
Wouldn't it be the end of any hope for a secular, progressive future for that country?
Wouldn't it clearly mean that any of our troops who died there(and any Afghans dying as a resulf of our escalation)would be dying for nothing?
Could anybody here STILL make a case for "staying the course"?
It's not like "the independents" would still want us there.

2. Karzai was a Bush plant. A puppet. |
|
He didn't 'turn' on the U.S. until Obama became President.
Evidently, Karzai isn't able to pull a snow job over Obama like he could with Bush and the neo-cons. Obama actually wants him to do real, hard, governing instead of just taking regular handouts from the U.S. and giving money to his cronies. Governing that may not be popular with the people of Afghanistan or his warlord friends.

or have a heart attack swimming in his pool. Same way we always deal with puppets who snip their strings.

9. I would be surprised if he did. He would have had to have given up on his country |
|
It seems like Taliban control would be his last wish for his country. If it is a true quote, he may have been trying to threaten to get more attention to his urgency or to stop reckless NATO actions.

10. Even if Karzai were our bff, what real reason do we have? |
|
Bush messed up the only real reason we had. Now we are nation building and ass-covering. Our lives. Our money. Our reputation. Flushed.
