First off lose the slow blink when discussing his own past. Is it exagerated?

To use working in a nuclear deterrent role, and then speak of that in the way he did, sounds wrong or at best bad, find what you learned from it, not how some might think it is bad.

And that comment on soul? what was that?

Soft voice at end not best, nor expression. Own it. When you reach the part that matters, put energy into it, so it jumps off the page. Feel it and own it. Not with anger but with passion, that way the parts you want to accent actually are seen. By passion, it does not mean facial expression or tone, just add and have the feeling when speaking and the rest just happens.

Discussions on social justice, did not have concise one liners that jumped out, what did jump out was some idea of connecting negative armed service experience, with some social thoughts. A bit complicated at best, but not a clear analogy in the telling.

The arguments for choice, and tolerance, are best made without pointing out self righteousness of other people. If done in the positiveness of the reason. It seems to be better. If a comment like self righteousness is to be used, it seems better to say it as it applies to oneself. And I would speak of what was learned from those years on that job, and how it effected the person, not questioning if it was bad, or damnable offense, that was way out there.

For instance, "the reason I think and believe in social justice causes, and tolerance for people, is that it would be self righteous of me to judge another person, when there is so many things that still need to be done in my views of how people chose to treat each other.

No offense, but it is not that good in my view.

edit:
Be in a good mood, when making such a video, and lean forward a bit.

Maybe its just me, but not a zinger, although I think I understand the intent of his comment, it does not work its way out of that message very well.

On a side note, the whole idea of people 'losing there soul' or 'Faustian deals' what I think he was talking about, is a trick to get people to think they are damned. No deal is more powerful then God's grace, the only reason dark side tries to say people made some deals is to get them to think they are damned.

It is a dark side trick to get a person to put a person in despair and fear. Most of that hype about Faustian deals is a trick used against people. For instance, how would you have lost a soul when you never pushed the button? Sure you were put in a position where you might have, but you never did, if anything, you were protected from doing such a bad thing. My point is there are lots of twist to try and get a person to think they are spiritually in trouble. If you can think on the topic, you probably have a soul. Although such things in a speech really sound weird. And if a soldier honestly thinks he is protecting and doing good, even when doing bad, his intent keeps him from doing wrong, and the fault lies in what he might not have thought of, or missinformation or lack of education on such ideas about peaceful conflict resolutions.

Anyway thanks for the input.

I graduated from the Alan Grayson school of charm.

BTW: This is just full of passives.
"the reason I think and believe in social justice causes, and tolerance for people, is that it would be self righteous of me to judge another person, when there is so many things that still need to be done in my views of how people chose to treat each other.

Note that you're talking to the candidate/speech writer/film maker/editor/webmaster. So, what's with the 3rd person language? My name is John.

3. LOL, what are passives?
Edited on Mon Apr-12-10 03:54 PM by RandomThoughts
By passives, I assume you mean passive aggressive, although the idea in my mind, would be to add after that, how the person learned from some experience about self righteousness, maybe from the time spent around the nuclear deterrent role. Or what he believes can be done, things like social safety nets, and why the rights of people are protected by tolerance not by anger against another group. That could replace the blandness of the second part of the sentence I typed that you quoted. But it depends what he thinks should be done to fill that in.

But I would not speak of that role as a bad past event, more as a better one of self learning and development.

Or by passive do you mean not saying much?

On a serious note, I have a hard time believing it is actually real, most people who listen to it would only hear a person questioning if they have a soul. That is way out there.

8. Well I am not that great at grammar.
Edited on Mon Apr-12-10 04:18 PM by RandomThoughts
Ok, I think I know what you mean.

The difference from when you go up to a girl at a bar and go, um it would be sorta nice if you could, um, if you remember it, um tell me your name, and um let me say um, hi.

Versus,

hey there, I am 'so and so' nice to meet you.

That's what I think of as difference from passive and active. Not sure if it is the same in grammar.

I also use Colombo approach to much of life, I would guess passive comments might be part of that. Plus a consious desire to not be bossy, but if I am making a point in defense of something, sometimes it is a bit, just a bit, more active.

15. That is the lesson from the Alan Grayson school of speechifying.
In a video the audience on ONE. The one person that is watching it. So, I try to speak as though I'm talking to one other person.

:hi:

Not sure about third person language. Many times I do it to avoid making comments people might think is about them when they read a 'you' not 'a person' Assuming that's what you mean by third person.

Its actually a bit complicated.

9. No problems. Making a video like that is like a one-man band. I'm syncing a few things while
trying to look into the camera.

If you every have to sync, video and an external audio file...just count 4 3 2 1 and clap your hands (I clap 3 times), get settled, smile for a few seconds ... Hi I'm ...

17. Yea thats a common thought I have had also.
But luckily I have had a few experiances that make it bigger then that.

The reason my post look like that is I try not to make assumptions since that adds interpretation.

Notes on Eliza.

Name of rescue crew that would actually do bad, in movie Moon.
Abreviation of name Elizabeth.
With relpacement of s Elisa is name of version of song sung by Clint Eastwood in Paint Your Read Waggon.
Elisa videos from a singer have many good songs, including Heaven from Hell, and Rainbow.

Alisea was battle fought by Julius Ceaser.

Beep Beep Beep.

21. Hence why randomness is so important. :)
Edited on Mon Apr-12-10 04:55 PM by RandomThoughts
That way the noise makes predictive algorithms of the machine fail. One of the arguments why flawed people exist. But that is more scifi story stuff.

In honesty, it would be vary easy to build various systems to do such things, and with information control like Internet and cable, you could even control input and then react on output.

However, as I said, I have seen things in what many call 'real life' that shows it is not an Internet or cable tv phenomenon. Stories of 'the machine' go way back before the time of computers, and even Orwell, in my belief, wrote of his view of the supernatural when speaking of big brother. But again that is scifi stuff.

But to make more sense. It would be real easy to do such a thing on the Internet, and it is entirely plausible, that the scope of viewership of things like forums and posts could be limited.

However that does not change the intent nor the action of a post by itself.

For example, if you read something and it inspires a thought, then weather that thought is off of a real, or contrived event, it is still a thought, as long as you do not tie the thinking to perspectives that consider what is seen or heard as real.

You can comment on a news story, or you can comment on how a news story makes you think on a topic. If you do the first, you are pinging off of possibly untrue event. If you are doing the second, you are just spending time thinking on things that you find interesting, without assumptions of reality.

Try this on ... it was my first. I'm making fun of my technically challenged opponent without actually calling him out.

In fact, I would love to see links to any other candidate that makes such a statement on video. Other than Barack that is.

This is the statement that I'm holding in reserve. I still cannot speak these words without getting passionate.

20. You need to show more passion, humor and INSPIRATION
Every thing you said had the elements of these 3 things in the issues and your platform.

I don't get why your voice was not in sync w your mouth.

Maybe better to do a voice over that watches you work.

Show passion, humor and when you do look into the camera,

think about what inspires you, and express that right through your eyes into the camera.

Ru-Paul says, "You've got to OWN IT." and he's 100% correct.

Own that camera lens and talk as if, to your best friends.

To run as a Dem in Fla., you are brave. That bravery is inspiring, and a little swagger is in order.

Inspire people that voting for you is a bold courageous choice.

Inspire!

good Luck

That phrase goes way back to the concepts of method acting.

But I can see why Ru-Paul would say that, since he/she owns his/her choices.

But regardless, I agree with your post, if you are going to do something, then it should be every part of what you got, and you make it happen.

Good post

The site is not going to bite you. I know, I wrote and implemented every bit of it. (I did use WordPress, since I didn't want to write my own blog program)

http://www.johnnmorgan.com/2010/03/25/video-introducing... /

The audio IS a voice over. If the sync is that bad I can re-mix it. The page you are getting is not available off the website. It's a sneak peek for DU.

Again, I manage to touch the 3rd rail on two subjects in a conservative district. I don't think grand standing is called for, but I'll look again.

I just watched again. It says and portrays my feelings on this issue without accusation. It is for an audience of one. The one person watching.

Except for the minor glitches in my speaking, I like it.

Or 1 minute if possible.

That's not a criticism of your speaking ability or your message. People have short attention spans and are overwhelmed with content choices.
