What Do The Teabaggers Want? |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-12-10 06:46 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
I just got back from my best friend, Nate's home. He's more than a friend to me. He's like a father to me. He has two Bronze Stars; one from from Korea and one from Viet Nam. I was telling him there was a Teabagger Rally at the Orlando City Hall. He asked me what the Teabaggers want. I said a "white president". We both had a good laugh.

a white republican president. Me thinks a white democratic president would still merit the end of the world.

According to people in the know, teabag people are a mix of blue dog Democrats, Republicans and Independents who want low taxes and balance budgets. They tend to be white and older.

22. Teabag people are Republicans who lost the 2008 election, |
|
and are sore losers, and nothing more.
Don't fool yourself into thinking some are real "Independents", cause most aren't. They are just ashamed of being Republicans, as they know who caused the mess we are now pulling ourselves out of....and don't want to claim them.
But it is clear, if anyone is looking and thinking, that they are Republicans extremists.... and the media has been working hard to grow their numbers for the last year.
We talk about them here more than we do anything else, so of course, we are helping grow them as well.......because that's what we normally do; help the opposition as much as possible, while we sit here doing nothing much else.

8. Deep down inside they probably don't want to feel scared anymore. They have been whipped |
|
into a frenzy for years. They probably just want to feel secure in their jobs and their lives. The world is changing though and the right wing machine will never let them have peace though. The right wing will always make them scared that someone wants to come and take away thier freedom.

11. They want simple answers to complex issues |
|
They want a world they can easily understand - one in which they know their place in the pecking order. I could almost pity them if it were not for their violent rhetoric.

Simple answers to complex issues, so they don't have to think about how the world is changing, as well as their place in it.

14. There may be more than one answer to that question. I don't have |
|
data to support the claim but my impression is that a lot of the Baggers don't want to acknowledge the idea of an egalitarian society that is right in front of their faces, and their stubbornness has to do (in large part, IMO) with racism, and they're brought together mostly by those things, plus their anger.
They do not want minority U.S. Americans to succeed. They do not want their children to go to school with the children of minority U.S. Americans. They do not want Barney Frank on the news. They do not want liberal San Franciscan Nancy Pelosi to be the Speaker of the House (nevermind that she's from Baltimore originally). They do not want Asian-Americans in the Cabinet. They do not want Congressman Lewis to bear the weight of memory and bear it with dignity as he always does.
Obama's skin color unhinges their reason even as it exposes their miserable citizenship. He defeated their white war hero by some 10 million votes. He's smart as a tack and is a mature, self-realized adult. And he knows their Bible better than they do. Obama's triumph in all these areas validates the struggle men and women made decades ago in Selma and Birmingham. His assent signals to a stubborn and bigoted mind that Dr. King's arc does in fact bend toward justice. Obama's election signals the end of their era of unquestioned and insular discrimination.
They're angry about developments and they're throwing a temper-tantrum over becoming politically obsolete. As angry as they are, they are doing things and saying things which will hasten their obsolescence. They act like 4-year olds. They sound like fools.
The Baggers feature individuals the likes of which would spit on John Lewis, as if John Lewis' skin color were the point. Lewis' skin color is less the point by far than how tough that skin is, and it's a toughness that will outlast and therefore transcend the Bagger's hate-fest and miserable citizenship.

16. They crave to be part of something big..... |
|
their lives are empty and considering most are older to middle aged their days are passing them by and they know it. They want to be part of some big historical event before it's too late. They would love a revolution, civil war or fascist tea bagger uprising so they can put all that ammo they have stored up to good use (on minorities and us liberals of course or just anyone who isn't like them). They see the country that in their eyes is the greatest in the world (the results of years of patriotic brainwashing) is crumbling and they wish to restore it into some vague, nationalistic, old days "real" America.
That's what they want in a nutshell, a whiter more "real" America where anyone who doesn't fit their description of a "real American" is jailed, tortured, deported, free to be ridiculed by "real" Americans or just outright killed. They even say it every time they howl that they want "THEIR" country back. Like you claimed, they also want a white president back in office but that would just come with the package of what they really want... a full blown revolt/civil war/uprising where they would be free to kill those not like them.

Because what was ideal for certain people (male, whites) was not ideal for everyone else.

it explains alot - even though it was written before the Tea Party movement.
They are the fruits of the GOP/FOX brainwashing campaign, and proof of the cognitive theory behind it.
