I'm not sure where Air Force 1 fits into this

whole Republican debate. I would think their main goal would be
to see who could be the biggest war hero.
Then again...the Republican party works so hard at the subliminal
with props & buzz words of the bygone Ronnie days. So I guess their whole platform will be who is most like Ronnie and a warhawk to boot.

I hope the RNC is paying for Air Force 1 to be center stage and
not that of the taxpayers!

2. I'm assuming she is talking about Air Force One being in the same room as the debate.

3. Republicans require large, inanimate phallic symbols
I suggest they display some pictures of slaughtered nonwhite priests and nuns and children from central America if they really want to excite the base.

6. The aircraft on display ( A C-137C) at the Reagan Library is a retired airframe on static display
Edited on Thu May-03-07 03:10 PM by A HERETIC I AM
The Republican National Committee has nothing to do with that aircraft being where it is. (Outside of any lobbying they did on behalf of the library years ago in order to get the Air Force to donate it.

From;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Force_One

<snip>"On September 8, 2001, SAM 27000 was decommissioned and flown to San Bernardino International Airport, California where it was dismantled and driven in pieces to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, where it was rebuilt and is currently on public display."<snip>

I lived in Southern Cal when this move occured. It was all over the news. They started the move in the wee hours of the morning in order to avoid tying up LA traffic. The largest piece was the entire fuselage transported over the LA Freeways as a unit.

7. You're correct
That's the aircraft that had been in service since (I think) Kennedy and was retired on Poppy's watch. It is basically a Boeing 707. The current aircraft is a 747.

8. That airframe was delivered in 1972 and was decommissioned in 2001

Info from the same Wiki page i noted earlier.

The aircraft you are thinking of, known as "SAM 26000" is on static display at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH.

The one in Simi Valley, CA at the Reagan Library is "SAM 27000"
