A message from Chris Matthews!

Everyone let me have your attention! I believe the most important aspect of tonights debate is this.

Yes that right this giant shinny plane that the president gets to ride in. Its the most important backdrop for this debate because lets face it becoming president is all about getting to ride in that shinny plane. It's defiantly the best way to view a disaster zone.

Also its great for showing off your cod piece.

That is all.

4. Does every President get his AF-1 when retires?
How much did this token of our esteem and devotion to the 'Father of our Country' cost us? Will they drydock the Abraham Lincoln in George W. Bush's Library to commemorate "Mission Accomplished"?

9. Is that a mock-up? I assumed it was the retired version - 707???
Edited on Thu May-03-07 05:21 PM by Kingshakabobo
IIRC, the new 747 went in to service during Poppy Bush's reign so I figured they gave the 707 to "King Reagan" (as my freeper co-worker calls him).

eta: It appears to be the real deal.

I feel so dirty but I really want to visit the library just to see that airplane (I'm a private pilot and aviation buff)......I might melt and/or get arrested if I set foot on that property.

http://www.reaganfoundation.org/airforceone/

Visitors to the Reagan Library will be able to board the Air Force One that served as the “Flying White House,” for President Reagan and six other U.S. presidents from 1973-2001. The new Air Force One Pavilion celebrates President Reagan’s vision of face-to-face diplomacy and tells the story of his achievements in promoting peace and democracy around the globe. In addition to Air Force One, the Pavilion includes a Johnson-era Marine One and a Presidential motorcade featuring President Reagan’s 1984 parade limousine.

For me, it was being able to look directly into the cockpit and beyond of the Enola Gay ....

... and to walk around the SR71

12. I was there in 8th grade circa 1978.......
My dad dragged me and the siblings to D.C. on an "educational" vacation. I really enjoyed that museum and really ned to make it back as I'm sure I will enjoy it even more as an adult.

Thanks for that!

13. It is not a mock up. This is the actual plane that Nixon, Carter, Bush I,
Clinton, and Bush 2 used until til it was retired. I have no idea how the Reagan library got to have it. I was on it just a few months ago, so I know first hand.

5. Is Reagan the only president that's able to have an old Air force One Plane in his library?
If he is, what makes him so special?
