Former Workers Speak Out About Care At VA Hospital

Employees Say Some Requests For Medical Tests Destroyed

Rick Earle, Target 11 Investigator

PITTSBURGH -- Former VA employees told Target 11’s Rick Early that requests for specific medical tests were destroyed.

A former VA employee agreed to talk to Earle as long as his identity was concealed.

The former worker told Earle that he was instructed to destroy doctor requests for MRI scans, a test that can detect serious medical problems.

The VA denied that any requests were destroyed, but Target 11 interviewed four former workers who say the records were destroyed.

The former employees told Target 11 that the VA hospital in Oakland has the only MRI machine in the region for veterans and patients come from as far away as Ohio, West Virginia and New York for tests.

The demand for testing created a huge backlog of paperwork and the former employees said the order went out to get rid of any requests older than six months.

8. I see more bureaucrat bonuses in the making here.
Just think how much they saved on all those MRI's at maybe $1000 a pop.

10. It takes about that long at the Dallas VAMC
I make many appointments months in advance.

They've got one MRI machine at the VA in Dallas. Once I arrive there I usually wait an hour or more before I go in. That's on a quick day.

12. shitloads of records of Gulf War I vets were destroyed back in early 1990's
that is how the vets figured out that something was up

that something turned out to be Gulf War Syndrome and the use of Depleted Uranium

I wonder if there was any exposure to Iraq/Afghanistan vets to that napalm like stuff-the stuff they altered slightly so that they could claim napalm was not used?

15. Nothing surprising about that from this war criminal and profiteering administration
When word about the Walter Reed outpatient scandal hit some of us looked into the involvement of International American Products Inc./IAP in that and our investigation expanded almost beyond belief.

Take some time with this archived thread, use the information in it freely. Those that destroy records and lives will be held accountable for their crimes.
