Why the fuck is AARP sponsoring the GOP debate?
Isn't this like PETA sponsoring a hunting show? What has the GOP ever done for elderly people, other than cut their medicare, medicaid, and force them into substandard care?

2. AARP is right wing IMO
I just cancelled with them.

Notice the people they put on their magazine cover many times --- gives me a right wing feeling.

8. I guess I missed the part
Where they changed their name to AAPRP (American Association of Progressive Retired Persons) or
AARRP (American Association of Republican Retired Persons).

In my opinion, it's probably a good 50/50 split between the two as far as membership is concerned. I don't understand why it matters what they sponsor and/or support.

Edited on Thu May-03-07 07:06 PM by BlooInBloo
... in the guise of advocating for old folks.

EDIT: Sort of like NARAL supporting lieberman (Ind - Jackass Fuckwipe state)

11. AARP has been taken over by the GOP. They are trying to
privatize Medicare and Social Security and what better way than infiltrating and gaining control of the organizations that once protected the elderly. Do not be surprised if once stalwart animal rights organizations like PETA are victims of a hostile takeover in the future, then you will see them do just as you said.

I am old enough to join, but they have done too many unsatisfactory
Pug-happy things in the past. I do not trust them. I'd rather pay more than to support such a neo-con organization.

12. AARP head honcho is a * Repub
When * was pushing Social Security privitization AARP was all for it. I cancelled my membership over a year ago, and told them why. I know of quite a few people who did the same. I still get mail from them to re-up but as far as I am concerned they can shove it. Also there was a thread not too long ago about them getting kickbacks from the insurance companys to push their policys. Scumbags.

Although the rest of that crew looks like they're pretty damned close.
